Man in Syria asks, "Where is America?" (Vanity)

BBC World Have Your Say just came on. A very angry Syrian man was being interviewed by the beeb. Rockets were falling very close to his position. He was screaming for help from the world. Then he said (and I'm paraphrasing, but this is pretty close), "Where is America? America is supposed to be the defender of humanity! Where is America?"

While I'm happy that the guy has such a high opinion of us, I wonder whether he would feel the same way after *we* win his freedom for him, which is to say he'd be burning the US flag in the street and shooting at us after we won his war for him.

While we are busy chopping our military down and tossing unemployable soldiers on the streets where there aren't enough jobs for people *with* POG skills, I'm sure spending billions sending the remains of our military to be pulled down into another engagement we would never intend to win sounds like a great idea to some in Washington.

What we need to say:

Dear International Community: we defend America and American interests, not the totality of humanity. If that burns your butt, there are any number of powders and creams that can assist with your irritation.

Where is America??

I’m in L.A. and sometimes I feel like I’m in Tijuana.

“Where is America?”

North of Mexico, south of Canada. And we’re staying right where the eff we are. Not sure why we’d help expand the caliphate any more than we already stupidly have.

Dear Syrians. You have always poked the USA in the eye when you had a chance. You let thousands of Al Qeda stream through your land to wage jihad against us in Iraq. You support the terror group Hezbollah in Lebanon and actively undermine Israel at every turn. Your best friends are the Russians who sell you all your hardware while your people are impoverished.

GO TO HELL.

Just Ask Iran!

Bari abandoned the Irainians in 2010 when it was ripe for democratic reform.

First, let me say that my son would likely participate in this action. Having said that I do concur with your sentiments - really, I do. So maybe it's just the sucker in me that has always believed the very sentiments that this guy espoused, that this great nation, that this once righteous nation stood for using it's great power and resources to aid the world and those too weak to prevent their own slaughter.

Now what do we have? A morally confused and corrupt nation that no longer views its role in the world as a liberator. That is what the Left and their media brethren have done to us.

Because we are morally weak we let the Iranian and Syrian types run IEDs and other hardware into Iraq. Why did we not crush this? Because George W. Bush was too cowed by the screaming left to advance any additional and necessary military action to prevent this from happening. Therefore, because Bush was cowed by the left brave men died needlessly and once again the left redefined what was formerly great about this country and what was once synonymous with the name "America!" -- the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Why?

I bet Syrians, like Palis, were dancing in the street on 9/11. And this bet this guy specifically was celebrating.

Since the Assad regime will almost certainly be replaced with an even more noxious group, why would we bother?

I'm thinking it's popcorn time.

Syria is ruled by minority Alawite Shiites. Its population is mostly (70+%) Sunni. Look for Muslim Brotherhood and al Queda to support the rebels, and the Iranians to support the government side. Ideally, the fighters on both sides will kill each other off.

Look at who is in the W.H. ! Anything that favors freedom for individuals and against thugs/tyrants, he is not for. That is why the Iranian and Syrian thugocracy has not been overthrown but supported !

“Where is America?”

I seem to recall a survey some years back where 80% of Arab muslims agreed that terrorism was a valid tactic to facilitate their causes and that the United States was the biggest threat to world peace.

“Where is America?” We’re right here reviewing that survey.
