Just in on CNN: The Colorado GOP Chair says Santorum Wins CO! 78% reporting. El Paso County in CO puts Santorum over the top 1300 margin in this county.

I said several months ago that I thought the nomination would not be won in the first ballot. Last night just proves that this thing is wide open.

In fact I will go out on a limb and say that there is a 50% chance that the candidate may not be one of the four left.

Just proves that conservatives are not sheep. We don't care who the media (even conservative media) thinks is best.

My biggest fear is that when it comes convention time, and Myth is sitting with 40%+ of the delegates. Watch for some dim tactics where floor delegates are bullied by the GOP establishment in the subsequent ballots. Get the popcorn ready, it is going to be an exciting summer.

I want to hear, SEE the likes of Karl Rove, Ann Coulter et al ad vomitum tomorrow on the talk shows. ;-) Hee hee hee. Somebody just urinated in their bowl of cornflakes! ;-)

BTTT! It was one thing to see Rove go all in for Mitt and not all that shocking, but I am VERY surprised that Coulter has been over the top vocal for Mitt. What, she is all about the win now? Mitt seems to have the money, the organization, the nice hair and a good debate style so let's support him? This has been a very eye opening primary season if nothing else. Some true colors are being shed.

Anyone who challenges Mitt gets smeared. It doesn’t matter who - just that they challenged Mitt. That is all I need to know about voting for Mitt...

Between Newt & Santorum...I could go either way. I prefer Newt, but certainly wouldn’t attack Santorum over him.

Not sure if I like this or not...
On one hand I’d rather have Rick than Mitt. At least Rick is a SOCIAL conservative (not much of a track record when it comes to fiscal conservatism). There isn’t a conservative bone in Mitt’s body.

On the other hand I think it will hurt Gingrich by further splitting the anti-romney vote. This will ultimately help Romney :(

there’s nothing “honorable” about wasteful earmark spending. Rick Santorum is the king of that. Social conservatism is a nice START but...

I agree that earmarks were unnecessary but it was done by everyone until early 2006. McCain was the biggest anti-earmark guy out there but still took some. I don’t think earmarks are going to be a big negative for Santorum. Now Santorum is going to have to give his economic policy so everyone understands what he will do. I don’t have any idea what this primary will conclude. Any of them probably has a chance. The scariest thing of all is that McCain lost 13 states after Florida and still went on to win the nomination. That really freaks me out to be honest with you.

Lets see if Romney turns his carpet bombing campaign against Santorum. I think part of the reason he lost tonight, is the fact that their may be a backlash against Romney for using that technique in Florida.

I think they've already started attacking Santorum's wife. Not sure if it was from Romney but it wouldn't surprise me.

Freaks me out too! You touched on something really important too. Santorum is winning over “value voters” and no one questions that. You’re right to say that Rick needs to articulate a clear plan for economic growth.

The fact that he’s spending so much time talking about social issues is likely sending a message that he doesn’t “get it” when it comes to America’s priorities.

Abortion is still a huge issue (don’t get me wrong) but we are in DIRE STRAIGHTS economically.

Gingrich needs to honorably drop out. He is trailing women voters by 20-points or more in poll after poll. He has sky-high unfavorability ratings, he gets trounced by Obama in the recent USA-Gallup by over 12-points, and carries the $1.6m Freddie Mae albatross around his neck. If nothing else, he will sooner or later self-implode like the proposal to colonize the moon. With Santorum’s clean sweep especially in bellweather MO where he carried every county, it is now abundantly clear that Santorum is the only realistic alternative to Romney. Time to get on to this bandwagon.

Santorum jumps into 2nd place in delegate count

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Former Sen. Rick Santorum moved into second place Tuesday in the race for delegates with wins in Republican presidential caucuses in Colorado and Minnesota.
Santorum picked up at least 28 delegates while former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney got at least six.
Overall, Romney has 107 delegates, including endorsements from members of the Republican National Committee who automatically attend the party’s national convention and can support any candidate they choose. Santorum has 45 delegates, Newt Gingrich has 32 and Ron Paul has nine.
The race for delegates is still in the early stages. It will take 1,144 delegates to win the GOP nomination.
Santorum also won the Missouri primary Tuesday, but the party is not awarding any delegates based on the results. Instead, Missouri will award its 52 delegates through a system of caucuses and conventions, starting March 17.
Minnesota had 37 delegates up for grabs Tuesday — 13 based on statewide results and 24 based on results in individual congressional districts. Colorado had 33 delegates at stake — 12 based on the statewide vote and 21 based on results in individual congressional districts.
Delegates to the party’s national convention from Minnesota and Colorado are not bound by the results of Tuesday’s caucuses. The caucuses were the first step of a multi-step process to award the delegates.
However, an Associated Press analysis showed Santorum would win all 13 of Minnesota’s statewide delegates if he maintains the same level of support throughout the process. The district delegates could not be determined on election night because Minnesota has not approved new congressional district boundaries following the 2010 Census.
Santorum and Romney split Colorado’s 12 statewide delegates, according to the AP analysis. Santorum also won nine congressional district delegates in Colorado.
The remaining 12 delegates in Colorado could not be determined on election night because the party did not provide votes by congressional district for counties that are split into multiple districts.
The Associated Press calculates the number of national convention delegates won by candidates in each presidential primary or caucus, based on state and national party rules. Most primaries and some caucuses are binding, meaning delegates won by the candidates are pledged to support that candidate at the national conventions this summer.
Political parties in some states, including Minnesota and Colorado, use local caucuses to elect delegates to state or congressional district conventions, where national delegates are selected. In these states, the AP uses the results from local caucuses to calculate the number of national delegates each candidate will win, if the candidates maintain the same level of support.
The AP will update delegate totals, if support for the candidates changes. The AP also interviews RNC delegates, who can support any candidate they choose, to see which one they support.

That is an interesting article. I thought FOX said that tonight, but wasn’t sure because so many people are saying last nights results are meaningless. This puts Rick in serious running for this election right now.
