Encomium
Noun
1. Warm, glowing praise.
2. A formal expression of praise; a tribute.
pl. encomiums or encomia (-m-)
[Latin encmium, from Greek enkmion (epos), (speech) praising a victor, neuter of enkmios, of the victory procession : en-, in; see en-2 + kmos, celebration.]
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

You should have watched our game instead. We came back from a 3 goal deficit, twice, to win in regulation. Our team leads the league in comebacks after being down by at least two goals. It is a formula for bigtime heartburn, wondering if they will be able to turn it around. We LOVE Mike Fisher here.
xshub told me that he’d seen a thread on FR [ha, and i hadn’t seen it!] about St. Timothy’s, where my friend Cheryl’s girls attended elementary school, banning the GS from the school. Girls no longer are permitted to wear GS uniforms to school, no meetings on church/school property, etc. BRAVO to that pastor for doing that. maybe other churches will now follow suit. time to call a spade a spade on this crap!

It’s unfortunate that the GS leadership has done that to the organization. Girls don’t have many options besides 4-H, and those opportunities are limited, depending on where they live.
i love the word GRIFTER. i always roared when the Clintoons were referred to as the first Grifters.
Locally, we founded a county-wide organization and got our funding from the local United Way. They were very supportive and we thrived. No need for it to be girl scouts or nothing.
That is an interesting voter rule (VA). I’ve never heard of one like that before. Of course, I am still stuck in the dark ages where (if I had my druthers) everyone would have to wait until they are 21 to vote — just like I had to! LOL

I offer Paul Ryan. Not exactly a DC outsider, but he seems to be the only one who has the smarts to get a handle on the budget. Of course, he does not want to run for President because his family has been threatened. But, IMHO Ryan’s the man for the job. I’d love to see a Ryan/Santorum ticket, or a Ryan/Bachmann ticket, or a Ryan/anybody ticket.
It makese sense that if you are entitled to vote in the general that year that you be permitted to help select the candidate to appear on that ballot.
Why can’t we be your Western Conference faves?
i guess it must have been 21 for me also. though having 2 very conservative and well-informed offspring who are under 21 and of voting age, i don’t want to make anyone wait to be 21. VA will have 5 conservative voting Republicans from the xshousehold henceforth.
No one wants the death threats and the politics of personal destruction. Ryan is awesome.
What was the organization? I have to confess to not being a fan of the United Way. I hate the high pressure to contribute we always get from them at work and all of the corruption they have had.
