WTH are Drudge and Beck trying to achieve? (vanity)
Vanity | 1/24/2012 | tatown

The attacks by both Drudge and Beck on Newt are about as vicious as I've ever seen by either of them even on Obama. I turned off Beck some time ago due to his extreme doomer act and I'm starting to get to the point where I avoid Drudge as well. I understand that they might not be Newt fans but the force of their hatred toward him is stunning.

Onyx....THANKS for that!

Unfortunately, though...same problem. These are only the posts I originated..my Newt defenses were all in threads started by others.:-(

Appreciate the effort though!

Please type in the box the evidence why Newt is supposedly “not a conservative” (LOL *CHORTLE* *SNICKER*) without using the words “couch” or “Pelosi.”

I agree. Beck throws out some weak comment that both Romney & Gingrich are progressives. But he barely speaks ill of Romney and when Newt nailed that debate with CNN the next day Beck was out of his mind with anger. Santorum doesn’t have a chance of winning. Beck knows that. Once Santorum is out Beck will happily accept Progressive Romney but not Progressive Newt? Why?

I want Palin back in this race. Throw them all back and let’s start over.

Frankly I’m puzzled by the pungent vitriol that beck, coulter, krauthammer, hume, etc are showing.

Krauthammer just seems to be in the 'Newt can't get elected camp' but the others seem to have a personal animosity against Newt.

I wonder what it is?

I don’t see a Drudge bias. He’s posted both good and bad on Romney and Gingrich.

Cry baby Beck on the other hand is someone I couldn’t figure out even if I wanted to.

Beck says that Romney is a Progressive too. But he doesn’t speak ill of him. Once Santorum is out of the race ... why will Beck support Progressive Romney but not Progressive Newt? Are there degrees of Progressivism that are acceptable to Beck? There must be.

It’s shocking how poorly some of you are at detecting bias in the media. I thought all conservatives were sensitive to that now. Sludge is absolutely RAGING for Mitt Romney and TOTALLY in his pocket every bit as much as Ann’oying Coulter is. Either you’re not going to the Sludge Report every day or you don’t understand that it is people that put the headlines and pictures on his site, not a randomized computer program.

Keep in mind Sludge and Coulter are long-time BFFs “IRL.”

The most likely scenario is that America’s spiritual father of gay marriage Willard Mitt Romney has told both Sludge-packer and proud GOProud member Ann’oying Coulter that he will appoint Supreme Court justices who will force gay marriage through (and then claim he had no control over it, as he always does when he passes his liberal policies). The gay lobby has probably quieted down about gay marriage lately because after their disastrous failures at the ballot boxes, they have turned it into a strictly stealth operation.

A “deal” like that is the only reason Coulter could have gone from saying “we would lose” if Mitt was elected last year to her fire-breathing scorched earth policy on all the non-Romneys this year. As far as I can tell the only things she has ever flip-flopped on in her career are her past support for Newt and her past criticism of Mitt.

I wouldn’t doubt that this rumored “outing” that led to the suicide of Brit Hume’s son is adding fire to Sludge’s rage against Newt. But it’s just as possible Sludge has been training his fire so ferociously on Newt because Newt has been the only candidate posing any threat whatsoever to Mitt since Cain dropped out.

Beck...Mormon angle and crazy as batshite anyhow

Matt Drudge ..queer as a 4 dollar bill and campaigning accordingly

I could care less about Beck...never liked his canonization of King and his denunciation of TR and his thinly veiled snottiness against Southerners...as in his anti South Carolina diatribe

He is a Scoop Jackson Democrat basically...a real asshat...I can’t stand him.

Matt Drudge...that hurts...bastard.

So how many frickin’ Mormons are in the Republican party elite these days anyway? Seems like they’ve taken the whole thing over from the inside while we were busy focusing on Obama.

You’re not paying attention...Drudge is amping any negative he can get on Newt and hyping it and downplaying any positive Newt gets

no question he is in the Romney tank

Mitt is pro homosexual agenda and Matt is drinking it up

please

Kraut’s really turned around I think. He’s been really down on Romney ever since Bain and taxes came up. Not sure if he’s sounded pro-Newt but I think he has said some good things about him and not tried to poo-poo his success in SC.

sorry..but Drudge is a media/ attention whore.
I had lunch with him like 15 years ago when he lived in Hollywood..he and a friend of mine who encouraged him to start his own thing. He was a better person back then, I think.

They see Newt one way instead of the way others see it. Beck is worried over Newt’s past and his comments when he had power. Like Michele Bachmann no love lost with Newt. They don’t consider him the perfect model of conservatism.

I really am not getting into this.

Do you still think Cain is serious?

you have to be kidding?

“we the people” and playing silly with Colbert

Cain is just not serious...talks like a TV preacher...never knew why folks here liked that guy

if you gotta go black ..then be smart about it...Allen West...now then you got something...but I despise race picks no matter how much freepers run after them time and again like lemmings

Newt’s track record in Congress is better than anyone running except looney Paul’s

ACU 94...not too shabby...2 points less than Jesse Helms

Santorum has no better record than Newt and Mitt Romney is to the Left of Daddy Bush...deep into Gerald Ford territory

folks here talk a lot of trash...

you are fine fellow though usually...to be fair

I went Palin-Bachmann-Perry...then Snewt

Palin did not run and the other two faltered though I thought Perry a decent man

And I would bet that nearly every Freeper here who has now a man crush on Newt, could not stand the guy back in the spring of 2011 when he jumped in and his popularity here was next to nil.

Not me. I was stunned and crestfallen back then at the unfair treatment he got when he criticized one small aspect of the Ryan plan. I had no idea so many Republicans could be such whiny, overly sensitive babies with their own personal brand of "political correctness" when it comes to words that shall not be used. I am a conservative and therefore firmly opposed to people who are offended by words and people who don't understand the phrase "sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me."

Now I am 100% sure the slime Newt got for no reason in the conservative media was specifically trumped up by the same elites bashing him now and was there way to cut his legs off right out of the gate. I'll never forget the tone in Bill Bennett's voice when he said "he's done, he can't come back from this" and me thinking that I just couldn't believe how hard everyone was coming down on him. I suspect a lot of you people here were swayed by the conservative media as well. I now deeply resent them trying to control our minds like that every bit as much for their own ends as the liberal media does on a daily basis.

From then on I could not understand why Newt stayed so far down in the polls. I basically wrote him off as never coming back and took a long look at the other candidates. I would still often say I thought Newt was the best one and I didn't understand why he wasn't more popular. Cain was the first one that I got excited about. Then he started flubbing foreign policy questions badly and Newt suddenly started hitting home runs and getting the loudest cheers of anyone. The main problem before seemed to be Newt was stuck off to the side and barely got any questions.

My dream for a while has been to get one of these genuinely conservative talk show hosts to run for an office like President, because I believe someone with COMMUNICATION SKILLS could turn this country back from the hard leftward shift that the media and schools have driven the last couple generations to. I knew Newt from his appearances on FOX News for the last 8 years or so and always thought he was one of their best guests, someone who I would always drop what I was doing and pay complete attention to. Trust me, I never had any doubts about whether he was conservative. No one in their right mind who simply listened to what the man said on a regular basis could.

I would like to understand the vitriol being spewed toward this man from people who seem to believe in most of the things he's stood for all his career. On the other hand I see a series of endorsements or at least praise from people like Dick Cheney, Michael Reagan, Fred Thompson, etc. and I know I don't have anything to worry about with Newt.
