I dreamed of trolling against Newt in my maidenform bra and all I got was this big old zot

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Newt Gingrich on Friday backed at least a portion of the Dream Act, saying that he would grant a path to citizenship to illegal immigrant youths who agree to sign up and serve in the U.S. military.

That’s a much tighter standard than the full Dream Act, which President Obama wants. That legislation would allow legal status and an eventual path to citizenship for children and young adults who join the military, but would also apply to those who go to college — a much broader class of people.

“I am opposed to anybody who came here illegally getting citizenship. That’s entirely wrong,” the GOP presidential candidate and former House speaker told a young man who asked about illegal immigrant students. “The only exception I would make is if young people, the ones you are dealing with, are willing to join the American military and serve the United States.”

Speaking a day before South Carolina’s GOP primary, Mr. Gingrich said that would put them on par with any other foreign-born legal resident who joins the U.S. military, and who under the law has a path to citizenship.

Mr. Gingrich’s stance puts him in between Mr. Obama and GOP rival Mitt Romney, who has said he would veto the Dream Act.

Sorry but if some young man or woman is willing to put his or her butt on the line fighting and serving our military then why not give them a shot at making it. This wouldn’t give citizenship, merely give them a chance. If it draws even a small percentage of the illegal gangbangers off our streets and into honorable service then I say job well done.

When the Dems were doing it they weren't trying to solve the problem but were trying to make things much worse.

I'm confident Newt wants to solve the problem (thrown most of them out, seal the border, end identity fraud etc.).

If I could make all the trouble go away by giving amnesty -- and Newt is not even talking about that -- to 1 or 2 or even 10,000 illegals I would do it in a heartbeat.

Considering that there is no more money for the military, I think this promise is virtually empty...which is good (in that way).

I don’t think it’s right to blame you for simply reporting what Newt said.

Maybe Newt is the best candidate available. If so, by all means support him—but hold his nose to the grindstone and clue him in. If he says this now, what will he do once he gets into office?

With Obama and his Communist Defense Secretary threatening to fire tens of thousands of American servicemen, into a civilian world where there aren’t any jobs, the last thing in the world we need is to replace our own citizens with illegal aliens.

What the hell is Newt thinking?

Go,

I won’t call you names. I will, however point out that you seem to have a propensity to forget that when Newt was busting chops he was doing it against a popular two-term Prsident. Was he a Chameleon? Maybe. But what the hell is Romney? Thats ALL we have left. Newt will take the fight to the other side of the field, he will represent us better than anyone remaining could possibly do. This guy wll NOT back down, and win or lose, we’re going to be better off that America saw these upcoming debates.

The enemy is Obama, and he needs to be clearly defined. Newt will do just that!

Do you realistically think we can get the millions of illegals in our country out like magic?
So newt proposes that if an illegal joins our military, serves our country and risks his or her life on our behalf, that makes him soft on immigration?
Tell you what ill take a legalized immigrant marine for my neighbor over any damn Legal occupier scum that not only wouldn’t serve our country but wants to destroy it.

The Romans held out that particular carrot and it worked rather well for them.

None of these losers will send the illegals back. Newt lost me here.

Fair enough. I agree we are on same team, we just have different opinions. Good news in my opinion Newt won’t win the nomination. If he did, true you would get pleasure having angry guy yelling at media etc...but he truly will get crushed. Everyone complains about Mitts positions, but he was governor of liberal state with 80 percent Demorats running it. Newt just went for Global warming crap, Freddie Mac, Lobbying, Mandate stuff without having to appease a Democrat state. Newts positions are far more leftist then Romneys, but I feel like I am arguing with a Democrat trying to explain tax cuts increase revenue. Facts don’t matter. But so be it. Also, I am going to support Charlie Brown if he won the nomination and yet everyone here says if Romney wins they won’t vote for him. Again, I don’t understand, but each to their own.

If there are limited slots for new enlistees, would you give these illegal aliens preference over US citizens?

That's likely the situation that will exist in the near future and it's dumb to even be talking (and pandering) about taking illegals into the military.

What do you want? I don’t support Paul or Romney. Santorum is a big gov’t guy. Fed rights over state rights. SOPA. These were things just from the debate last night. Plus, he can’t beat Romney. Wake up, he just can’t. So, we have the imperfect candidate Newt Gingrich, who will at least not try to turn the US into a socialist state. Sarah Palin would be MY choice, but for now Newt is going to have to be it. Hmm, that sounds like liberal logic right?/s

"Perhaps the quote from George Romney on Hoodat's About page is a clue to whom he (or she) supports.

Well that certainly un-muddies the water.

Don’t forget the local amnesty boards Newt proposed in the debate last night. Neighbors decide whether illegal grandparents can stay here if they have lived a good life, although illegally, in this country.

Difference is Go, If Romney wins the nomination, I would walk on my lips through broken glass to support him. We’re just not there yet. I personally think Newt would surprise you, be eloquent and forcefull at the same time and take back our country from this f’en douche film that’s running it into the ground.

I just don’t see that passion in Romney.

Gotya. Got no problem. I see it differently then you and some others, but so be it. I really can’t see him winning nor would Sarah Palin win. I like Sarah, but she can’t win. My goal is to beat Obama and unfortunately the people that decide it aren’t informed people and they don’t make their selection for the right reason. They don’t vote on issues, they vote on how the “feel” aka independents who vote, but don’t pay attention to politics. They are 15 percent and they hate Newt, hate Sarah. Not fair, but it is what it is. Romney only in my opinion can attract them at a greater level. Plus in my opinion Romney is more conservative then Progressive McCain was and Newt. Most people here supported Romney last time around against McCain.
