American Idols Phillip Phillips Sets Record, Surgery Postponed
American Idol winner Phillip Phillips single ‘Home’ reached No. 2 on the Digital Songs chart this week with 278,000 downloads. Thats the highest Idol debut ever. Phillip, 21, suffers from severe kidney stones. Phillip endured eight surgeries throughout the competition and was supposed to have another surgery last Tuesday. TMZ reports the surgery had to be postponed because Phillip was running a high fever as a result of a bad sinus infection. Phillip Phillips surgery is rescheduled for early next week.
In addition to the highest debut ever, ‘Home’ is the second highest digital sales week for an American Idol contestant, with only Kelly Clarksons ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ ahead of Home.
Phillips single is also the fourth-largest debut of the year, trailing behind Justin Biebers ‘Boyfriend, ‘Maroons ‘Payphone,’ and Katy Perrys ‘Part of Me.’ Considering Phillip Phillips was playing Sanford and Son with his father just a few months ago, thats quite impressive compared to those big names. Bieber! Levine!
Despite the health challenges and the ‘white guy with a guitar’ stigma surrounding him, Phillips post-Idol career is off to a remarkable start.

‘American Idol’ Video: Scotty McCreery Changes His Name for Conan
June 05, 2012 08:10 AM EDT

American Idol wrapped its season, and as things head towards season twelve, the season ten winner Scotty McCreery is showing that he can poke fun at himself and he used his singing talent to do it. McCreery appeared on Conan on Monday night to help the host prove that once again - he doesn’t make mistakes.
Obviously, Conan made one when he talked about McCreery with another celebrity. The host said the singer’s name wrong, but Scotty showed that he was willing to go that extra mile to help Conan out. Since the end of season ten, Scotty has been busy balancing his normal life with his music career. He made it a point to try to be as normal as possible with everything surrounding him.
With Phillip Phillips winning season eleven last month, Scotty no longer has the spotlight of being the current American Idol winner trained on him. That should make life a little bit easier for him to handle.
This short video does show Scotty singing a song he wrote just for Conan. He definitely shows here that he has a sense of humor. Not everyone can poke fun at their own name for the world to see. The fan that sent in the mistake had a song performed by Scotty in his honor. That fan probably doesn’t mind Conan poking a little fun at him after that.

American Idol winner Phillip Phillips is on the mend!
The 21-year-old singer successfully underwent kidney surgery Wednesday, his rep confirms to E! News.
“Surgery went well,” his rep says. “He’s resting and will be ready for the idol tour kickoff in July!”
Just a few weeks ago, Phillips came close to quitting the competition when his “right kidney kind of [wasn’t] functioning.”
MORE: Yes, That Was the Least-Watched American Idol Finale Forever, But...
The Idol winner told us he had “some bad days and some pretty good days” during his stint on the show. “It was rough at times, and there were a couple of times I thought about going ahead and getting the surgery done But I had a lot of great doctors and a lot of great people who helped me out through it. I’m blessed to have had that.”
We’re certainly glad Phillips is feeling better! The 45-date American Idol Live! tour kicks off July 6 in Detroit.
What an inspiration he's become. Second runner up didn't come close in the voting. She'll be fine if she cuts out all the unnecessary growling and riffing. When she sang straight, she was really good.

‘American Idol’ eyeing Adam Lambert as replacement for Jennifer Lopez
I’ve seen other articles saying he would replace Randy. I don’t care who he would replace since if he becomes a judge, I won’t watch.
Looks like “ Yo Dog” will team with Mariah Carey.
Will be interesting to see who the 3rd spot is filled with.
In the meantime will watch X Factor to see if it is any better than last season
Thanks. I thought their was more to the story.
Hope we get some good replacements. Wouldn’t be sorry to see randy leave.
Yeah, Randy hasn’t brought much to the party for the last couple of years. Maybe more. I see they are also considering going with three new judges each year.
