Dachshund pup found shivering in the cold finds home with rescue group

The tiny, very cute Dachshund puppy Mike Jennings rescued from an Ann Arbor parking lot last week has gone to a safe home with a Dachshund rescue organization in southeast Michigan.

The person who abandoned the pup in the parking lot outside the apartment complex in Ann Arbor where Jennings works never came forward. Other people did contact him to say they would take the pup, but Jennings decided the rescue organization was a better option.

“I wouldn’t give him up to someone I don’t know,” he said. “He was always happy when he was with me. But I just don’t have the time to train a puppy right now."

It’s very good that he was rescued. Hopefully he’ll be given a good home soon.

Our own Dachsie, Oscar M. Wiener, thought you had made such a good suggestion that he rolled on his back for a belly rub of his own!

(BTW, that little pup looks a lot like Oskie)

I’m happy that the guy took him to the proper rescue group. That was the best choice he could make since he was in no position to keep the puppy.

We rescued a dachshund mix a couple years ago. She was (and still is) very cute, but she can be a PITA sometimes.

Our badgerdog Willie came to us from a rescue group. Best dog we have ever had. Sure was a mess when we got him, hair missing, skin and bones, and a bad attitude.

I’m a cold-hearted SOB when it comes to the human race, but my heart bleeds for the dogs and cats that are abused.

5 seconds, just 5 damn seconds.

LOL! Had several dogs over the years and loved them all. After the last one died we ended up as cat owners...three of them. About two years ago my daughter brought home a red male Dachshund pup from a shelter. I said what the hell were you thinking. Don't want a dog and a Daschund is certainly the most useless kind.

Was I ever wrong! I love the little hard-headed bastard! Smart as hell and full of energy! He runs the house and we do everything together.

Daughter wanted to take him to live with her at the university. Hell no! Had to put my foot down. He is my boy...he stays with me.

I had two mini doxies in my younger days, Bismarck and Heidi. One a black and tan, one red.

I loved those little monsters!

We just adopted a precious little girl-pup some wicked fool had abandoned in the cold. She was halfway to being starved—could not have weighed more that three pounds—and clearly was used to being screamed at and hit with sticks or brooms. Poor baby! I have fantasies of finding the person who treated her like this and doing the same to her. How anyone could raise a hand to a tiny puppy like this is inconceivable.

In a way, though, I’m grateful that this irresponsible and cruel owner dumped her, because now she’s making us happy. She is surrounded by love from me, my kids, and our other dog, who thinks she’s his daughter and lets her chew his face off.

Shame on those folks.

Our mini was less than 3 pounds when we got her...completely defenseless and beyond cute. Still cute and wonderful... and she’s 18 years and 3 months old.

I read this to my Pitador (a rescue) and my eleven month old Great Dane (compensated adoption) and both were very happy for the Doxie, so happy they asked me to invite him for a visit.

Give me 3 seconds with the perps that did this to this little doggie.

I am going to introduce them to Thundy.
