WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Walk into this West Des Moines hotel, and you’ll easily encounter volunteers in Rick Perry fleeces or staffers wearing official Rick Perry badges.
The Perry campaign has set up shop here just days before the Iowa caucuses while nearly two thousand volunteers fan out across the state to promote the Texas governor with an expansive ground game as the campaign hopes he’ll earn a top three spot in the caucuses Tuesday.
A source close to the Perry campaign confirmed to ABC News they have signed up 1500 precinct leaders across Iowa.
At each of the stops along his bus tour through Iowa over the past two weeks, the campaign set up a table asking people to sign up to become precinct leaders. During the first leg of the bus tour, they averaged about 7 people signing up at each event, the source claimed, but during the second leg of the tour this past week, the precinct leader sign-ups jumped to more than 10 at each stop.

It has been frustrating to see MSM ignore Rick Perry. They know he is a threat to Romney in the south and want to 'take him out' in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Ronald Reagan came from my neck of the woods....so I say to all the Perry volunteers "Win one for the Gipper."

While I was in Barnes and Noble, I checked out Perry’s book, “Fed Up.” Newt wrote quite a lengthy and glowing foreword. I think he should drop out and endorse Perry. :)
Yesterday C-Span aired Perry’s entire visit to a coffee shop in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Anyone who thinks he has a problem with words/speech should watch it. He talked for about 45 minutes and then took questions from the packed house. I think he won over some voters, from the reactions I saw.
Outside the shop, there was a banner bearing the names of the candidates who had visited. When Perry’s bus pulled up, he bounded off and headed straight for it-—”Lemme sign ‘at!” LOL

Absolutely. That's why they're trying to ignore him. And if he places well in Iowa, expect them to start the attacks again.

On Monday night, in the appropriately named Iowa town of Perry, the Texas governor and his family will hold their final event of the day alongside Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, both of whom endorsed Perry early in the race.
Joining them on stage will be former presidential candidate Steve Forbes, the chief proponent of Perry’s flat-tax proposal, and Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, a longtime Perry ally in Austin.
South Carolina Rep. Mick Mulvaney, one of the most popular conservatives in the early Southern primary state, is also making the trek to Iowa for the Perry rally.

My first choice is Newt because he is one of the architects of the conservative movement. I challenge everyone to reread Newt's To Renew America. Haven't read it? What planet are you on?
My second choice is Governor Rick Perry because he is a true conservative and his success as a governor. That experience as a governor is the kind of executive experience we need in the White House.

The tradition in Iowa may be to join the caucus and take in what everyone knows about the candidates. Some have seen the candidates on the stump and some have done the work to understand what they bring to the ticket. Most of them are sitting back in cruise control; letting others do the work for them. Independents are usually in the undecided category.

Looks like Iowans who support Perry give him good numbers in “very enthusiastic,” and secondly, “okay” with supporting Gov. Perry, outnumbers the rest of the field at 51%. Also Perry has the lowest “would not support” number, at 20%.
With 42% still undecided or persuadable to change, this is good news for Perry.

Had one guy I called say "Perry's the man!"
I did have a couple, the husband was for Paul and the wife was for Newt. I gave the wife some things to think about so perhaps she will.
And having said that; a narrow win here won't mean much as so many people are so undecided.
I think the following states will see things firm up for support.
Many of the Paul votes for instance; will be protest votes. People want to send a message by voting for him. I don't think the seriously want him as President.
Wouldn’t a Santorum, Gingrich, Perry, then Romney finish be cool?
Santorum is fashionable this week but he has no money and I do not see how he can get beyond SC. We'll see but right now, that is what I believe.
I also believe that neither Paul or Newt can survive long term, maybe for slightly different reasons.
Perry has the money, which none of the others have. He also has a history of winning elections and even more importantly, he has the record that can defeat Obama.
I know intimately what you are talking about being a Republican Legislative District Vice Chair and Precinct Committee Officer. Each precinct is very intimate and there is opportunity for information and answers to questions among caucus members. If a caucus member has a question that is beyond their ability to answer, the Precinct Committee Officer has access to phone numbers and, in today’s information age, ways to get that information quickly.
In the case of a mass caucus where several precincts hold their caucus in a single building, there is access to information from those present in the room. In our legislative district, our PCOs all know each other we can find those with the answers. Those attending get a wealth of information that they would never get anywhere else. And their input is given great attention.
