I’m in Dayton, with the VOA (Volunteers of America). They treat us very nice, and it’s full of my fellow vets transitioning to a better life.
Merry Christmas to you, Simon!
Why not?
I am serious. As a heart attack. Soak the suckers in egg nog, fry them up and top with whatever. Captial-> Y...um.
Lookout MTN and the battle that ensued is remarkable and quite stupid. It is presented`daily up on the premises.
I stopped reading the thread and prayed for you to feel God’s presence in a special way tonight.
As hard as it is — and I know some of what you are going through — it is also a gift that your 45 years with your husband feels like “not enough,” still.
Merry Christmas to you too, 50mm, O Fellow Troll-Hunter!
I didn’t know exactly what to pray for you, but that’s okay: God knows what you and your family need most.
We usually do pancakes and such in coconut oil...this really does sound good. Add plenty of butter and maple syrup...heart attack, indeed. Always wanted my tombstone to say “Died Eating Tasty Food”.
WOW, never heard of them. Sounds like something the Greeks would make. Sounds good. Is that done on the grill?
Just a hold over pizza here tonight before the good stuff tomorrow.

Thank you for sharing that. That perspective is very encouraging.
I prayed for you to feel His comforting embrace tonight. God bless you in the new year.
I could not POSSIBLY portray their sincerity and affection in this forum. It was ASTONISHING. I was moved to TEARS. These two BEAUTIFUL girls who were SO charming.
Right before they swore me to tell “ all the American Army” I knew (they had NO idea how big is the USA), they were talking in Swedish/?/English between themselves.
They looked at me and realized I was not following them so the Kuwaiti girl said “IN A HOLE, THEY FOUND HIM IN A HOLE”.. and the Iranian girl chimed in “ YOU KNOW, THE MONSTER SADDAM”.....THAT is the image a LOT of Middle E residents have ( or HAD)....we FREED TWO ENTIRE COUNTRIES, found one of the Dictators HIDING IN A HOLE.
We were living in Paris, France at the time and I could tell you a MILLION stories of people I met who LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THE USA...
We travelled extensively and the Czechs, Italians, southern France, Hungarians, Romanians....they LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the USA TO THIS DAY and look up to us!
Our MILITARY did this...not the fricking diplomats. It was our MILITARY who represented ALL that the USA stands for and it STICKS with people. They REMEMBER. To experience that to me was INTENSE....I was SO PROUD.
When we lived in Paris, I would wear my rhinestone USA pin ( yeah, TACKY BUT VISIBLE!) all the time. You would not BELIEVE the people who approached me speaking English BECAUSE THEY RECOGNIZED THAT FLAG!!!! IT HAS ALWAYS MEANT FREEDOM to the WORLD!
As I said........THANK YOU will NEVER be enough!
Thank you, JAG, and a Merry Christmas back to you!
My favorite Christmas song is one for a “Christmas alone”:
December brings the King of Kings
They tell us that a child is born
But snowy nights and Christmas lights,
They only leave me cold and worn
Salvation bands reach out their hands
To ask you for a dime or two
To praise the Lord...
and Henry Ford
Detroit, December....
The friends I meet along the street
I know them from the factory
But thirty years of buildin’ gears
Make Christmas seem untrue to me
Eight hours a day to earn my pay
And overtime to see me through
And peace on earth, for what it’s worth,
Detroit, December...
The things I had, the things I made
Are lost like pebbles on the beach
And everything I want the most
Is always furthest out of reach
To trade these blues for dancin’ shoes...
And trade the old year for the new
But time it seems
Will steal your dreams,
Detroit, December,
....and you.

Best to all for a Merry Christmas and a good New Year!
God bless and keep you.
Thank you for your service and Merry Christmas ~
One is never alone when one has Christ in their heart. Merry Christmas.
God bless you and yours.
What is that wet stuff in my eyes ?
Your post made me cry.
May the Lord spread his warm cloak of peace and comfort on you and your husband this Christmas.
Prayers for you both. May you stay toasty tonight, too, and wrapped in angels’ wings.
