We've actually got flooding in the area today. It has rained steady for the best part of 2 days. Our pond out back went over the spillway today, up from about 4 feet low.

We've got a house full of grandchildren with new toys, 4 dogs and they can't get outside. Can you spell i-n-s-a-n-e? I love it.

I’m not seeing your photo, just an angelfire box. Is it just me?

Same here on the rain. It is still coming down good. Cashmere just can’t stand being in the house when the rain is coming down. She just ran outside to walk around in a down pour and will be pawing at the door to come in soon. My wife says she does it to get the towel rub down to dry her off. I am beginning to believe it!

Believe it ... I’ve got a dog that gets wet for the rub down with the towel. My oldest dog, a maltese mix, goes out and rolls in leaves and dirt so that I will brush him before he comes in. He loves to be brushed and he’ll do it several times a day if I don’t watch him closely. :)

Gardens are where you find them and I found this one on Humboldt Bay (better known as Bender Bay) a few days ago...

The tomatoes initially grow upward, then gradually fall over and the main stalk grows straight down, so almost all of the force is down and the roots are being pulled down into the pot, not up or to the side. When growing tomatoes, I was instructed to only use a couple pots on a stack due to the plant size, and to only put two plants per pot since the roots need a lot of room (I did sneak a couple habanero plants in with the tomatoes as a gift for the squirrels).

Haven't had any issues with breakage on the tomatoes (I do lose some pepper branches, but I think the squirrels may cause some of those). The spot in the picture where you can see a branch broken off was almost certainly done by me. I have to get out there just about every day and remove the sickly leaves and branches. I'm trying varieties which claim to be resistant to this, that, and the other virus, but so far I just have to keep them trimmed up.

The top of the highest pot is just under five feet, FWIW.

I’m not sure why you don’t see it and I do. It’s the Calvin and Hobbes cartoon where Calvin builds a snowman with the base on the hood of his dad’s car, the chest and head spread on the ground, and three other snowmen looking on with mouths gaping in horror.

Calvin did a lot of twisted things with snowmen.

You're too kind. :-)

Appreciate the info on the Verti-Gro...may have to give it a 'test run' with mid-size tomatoes; just to see how it works out.

Prolly not, but I have a twisted sense of humor. :)

I caught 5 nice big mouth bass today. They always go to bitin' when there is a flood of new water and they can lay in the grass that is freshly submerged.
