I can’t remember if it was Louis L’Amour or Zane Grey, but I was reading one of their novels recently and came to a part where the animistic spiritism of the indians was held up as superior to Christianity. I put the novel down at that point.

They were even teaching in the schools that the Indian’s government was the basis for our USA government. Really, really pi***** me off.

I have not read Zane Grey, but when Louis L”Amour tells his stories he tries to do it accurately to the times...Many Indians had such a religion and they were guided by their animal spirit, be in the spirit of the bear or eagle or buffalo....It was when the west was getting settled, the missionary's did a good job of converting some native Americans. But I don't remember any of his non native Americans held such views. But I have read all of his western novels, and don't remember all of them...sorry you couldn't enjoy them...My father gave me my first Louis L'Amour book and I was hooked on his story telling...Hope you have a Great Christmas and Happy New Year... :O) GG
