(Reuters) - A federal judge on Wednesday rejected a plea deal for two men who prosecutors say made hundreds of harassing phone calls to Sarah Palin's lawyer, calling a proposed sentence of probation too lenient. U.S. District Judge Timothy Burgess said Shawn Christy, 20, and his father Craig Christy, 48, represented a risk to the public after engaging in a pattern of harassment against a variety of people.

Apparently both of them have real mental health issues, hence a reduced sentence of some sort could be in order, but I doubt that the courts will let this go without some sort of mandatory treatment for Lyme disease, along with sentencing of some amount of time in jail. They could get lucky and get out with time served.

Sounds like these kooks have been crazily bugging more than just the Palins. Not sure why civil commitment isn’t on the table.
Since they also threatened Barack Obama, the likelihood that they will be released is very low.
You believe the Lyme defense? LOL! Did both the ticks have Sarah’s name on them? Are they both cured now of Lyme disease now that they apologized. Pleeeeze. I’ve heard better excuses here from the PDS/mentally/emotionally deranged.
These two are a mass murder waiting to happen.
So, as they sit on their butts in jail they are “ashamed ... and is truly apologetic,”......easy enough to say from jail. I am glad the judge isn’t letting them walk that easily. All the threats of harm and rape...calls to children? They sound like a matched pair of batCRAzy!
They do that as self-defense....

Not me, but apparently the court does. If I had my druthers, I'd hang both of the bastards - but, watch... they'll get off with a slap on the back of their hands.
And no - they aren't 'cured now of Lyme disease' - they are still deranged dangerous threats to society that Judge Roy Bean would have hung the next morning because they cost their victims and society far too much.
From what I read, they've already been processed by civil commitment, put in the caring arms of liberal shrinks who protect them from ever suffering justice.
This nation has turned into a liberal cesspool of non-justice - and to me 'civil commitment' of sexual predators, and mentally retarded felons is injustice. Justice would be putting all of these criminals to death within 10 days.
But in this sick society we take money from the public to 'treat' such criminals, piling injustice on top of injustice.
Show citation please that the parties have been guilty of any act that classically permitted the death penalty (you DO know what “felony-flation” is don’t you? Read up on it).
