Communism cannot get started without tyranny. The theory goes that as society “creates” a new sort of human the need for tyranny will fade away. This totally ignores human nature, the fact that many yearn for freedom and also the fact that many will see authority as something to abuse.

And useful idiots. However it usually gets the useful idiots killed as soon as their government takes power. The last thing totalitarians need is trouble makers. Castro killed the bearded ones, the Nazis killed the brownshirts, Stalin killed all potential threats to his power.
