What Christmas means to Christians..and why.
Josh Groban first appeared on an episode of Ali McBeal about ten years ago.
He played her kinda geeky date for the Prom and when he stood up and sang, the whole room quieted down and watched his jaw dropping performance.
I ran to the Internet to look up who he was..with no success.
Now he is a household name with a voice like an angel and apparently, he’s a great guy to boot.

I have to say, there might be people with better voices, but I haven’t heard anybody sell it like Mark. He makes it more than JUST a song.
I used to sing it as a child. Not so much as my voice is not what it was, but it is a beautiful song.
They even sang it in the trenches, that’s how we came to know of it.
Angels We Have Heard on High
A little known song: “What Shall We Give to the Babe in the Manger?” Never fails to make me cry, especially when performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
What shall we give to the babe in the manger,
What shall we offer the child in the stall?
Incense and spices and gold we’ve a-plenty-
Are these the gifts for the king of us all?
What shall we give to the boy in the temple,
What shall we offer the man by the sea?
Palms at his feet and hosannas uprising;
Are these for him who will carry the tree?
What shall we give to the lamb who was offered,
Rising the third day and shedding his love?
Tears for his mercy we’ll weep at the manger,
Bathing the infant come down from above. \
Silent Night really is beautiful in German.
Perhaps you know this already, but in case someone who’s reading these messages does not, Josh Groban is Jewish by birth and Christian by conviction and in practice.
Celine Dion! DO NOT WANT

Immaculate Mary is a better song, but neither are really XMas songs...

The singer first describes his joy at hearing the bells. then his mood abruptly changes:
Then from each black, accursed mouthWhen he once again hears the bells, the singer's despair is replaced by hope and joy:
The cannon thundered in the South,
And with the sound the carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good will to men.It was as if an earthquake rent
The hearth-stones of a continent,
And made forlorn, the households born
Of peace on earth, good will to men.And in despair I bowed my head
"There is no peace on earth," I said,
"For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men."
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:As far as I know, there is no recording of the song with all seven verses, and few songbooks contain all of the verses.
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth, good will to men."
Josh Groban for the win! Celine Dion’s histrionic version leaves me unmoved.
Don’t you mean Les Anges dans nos compagnes?
Great song. Love that one too. It’s a french hymn though. Are we allowed to like the French? ;)
I am looking forward to being in North Carolina on December 22 and hoping for some Christmas Music in a Little Binger Jazz Style.
Hey Raleigh North Carolina Freepers! Come on Down!

“Christmastime is Here” from the Charlie Brown movie
Apparently, the prevailing thinking is, if you want a vid to go viral, you put a cat in it. :)
Merry Catmas!
A great carol, although I prefer the original French version, entitled "Christians, It's Midnight!" Roberto Alagna did an excellent performance of the tune, available here
Thanks, that’s it!
And thanks to you, rocko, for Mirielle’s version.
Brings back lots of memories, and all of ‘em are good ones!
