The Mayans were tards.
I think this may mean something regarding my January 1, 2013 balloon payment.
It's not about me, it's about the Lord God Almighty.

Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.
I guess anyone that has done fifteen minutes of serious reading on this subject understands that the Mayans never predicted the “end of the world.” It is simply akin to needing to go out and buy a new calendar.
End of one cycle, start of another one.
Pretty simple, and pretty hopeful.
Hard to take someone with hair like that seriously even if he wasn't seriously discussing UFOs.
I think I could make millions selling “Global Catastrophe Insurance”. If the world comes to an end, one could apply for reimbursement. I’d probably end up in jail, though, unlike the global warming hoaxsters.

LOL
on second thought....
BWAAAAHHAAAHAHAHA
The Mayans didn't predict the end of the world in 2012. It's the renewal of their Long Count calendar.
There still IS a thriving Mayan civilization in Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. Modern Mayans just don't live in city-states run by bloodthirsty warring kings. Their ancestors had the good sense to walk away from all that and let the kings fend for themselves.
Of course not, everyone knows that the Mayan calendar maker was laid off following the 2012 production run.......
Those crazy Mayans. Everyone knows you never round up to the highest integer when predicting the end of the world.
-——represents the start of a new era and not the end of days-——
no rational person i know ever thought otherwise
Greece declined and Rome fell, too. But I don’t hear anyone arguing that those cultures weren’t “smart.” The Mayans never predicted an apocalypse, the 2012 event they predicted was a calendar cycle change, much like the change from 1999 to 2000. They were very sophisticated about some things — astronomy, math, they developed a written language — and not very sophisticated about others: they never figured out how to make use of the wheel, although they were familiar with the concept and created wheeled toys for their children. The Mayan culture was like all human cultures, smart about some things, not so smart about others.
I don’t know if I would characterize them all as thriving, some of them are leading marginal jungle existences, but I agree with everything else you say.
Welcome back to the planet...
