I’m herererererere...

The temp is 45, but the humidity is also 45 and the wind is at 3 mph. If the wind goes up, the chill will go down. The last few times I’ve walked to the post orifice, the wet chill has gone right through my jacket. I will go again on Thursday, then not again until Monday or Tuesday. It’s just too cold.

Speaking of the post orifice, I am cancelling the PO Box. The cost keeps going up every six months, and I just can’t afford it. So you will get an email with the new delivery address...unless you kept it from the Wolferman’s gift!

By Thursday, you’ll definitely have a cheerful piece of mail. And no, I didn’t save the address again ;-).

Back from delivering dinner to my friend whose baby had surgery last week. Alarming Election Chili, corn chips, cheese, a bag of apples, two cartons of chocolate ice cream, and a bottle of Australian red wine.

And I reassured her that she isn’t the only one whose teenagers go completely catatonic as soon as you take your eye off them, and then claim it’s your fault they didn’t get any math done for two weeks, because didn’t you ask them to take the dog for a walk, back on Tuesday morning? How are they supposed to concentrate?

I explained our system for moving on to real life: figure out what the goal is (such as Bill’s starting community college); achieve the required objective qualification (such-and-such PSAT or placement test score); and then create the rest of their “credentials” ex-post-facto. “Oh, that could work!” she says. And it does, because it’s what they can demonstrably do going forward - like complete Gunner’s Mate school - that matters, not whether they remember anything about Spanish verb conjugations.

As soon as I get my rear in gear (a little tired this morning) I will send out the address changes. Next week, I will notify the post orifice. I’ve had the box six years, and I hate to give it up, but I’m not getting any richer...thanks to Nobama. And some things I just can’t afford to keep.

Currently, I’m working on a beret for a little tiny neighbor who visits me once a month. She’s 90 and calls me her “sister” and says she thanks God for keeping her alive long enough to meet me. I mean, how can you argue with that kind of logic. She brings tears to my eyes....

The only things that really matter in life are the people you loved and the people who loved you. And the petz ;-).

Anoreth has been letting Ash spend the night on blankets in the living room instead of in her crate. She’ll be totally spoiled and a real pain once Anoreth leaves.

New people are moving in next door (on the corner). It looks like there are a couple of young children, swings-and-tricycle age. Maybe Elen can do some babysitting for pay.

Got any 4’s?

There are four dogs on the corner about a block from here. One is part wolf, one is a shepherd mix, one is a pure (something like Alsatian, but more rare) and one is champion-quality German shepherd. The two mixes are old, the white one is young, and the shepherd is still a pup.

I will stop there on my way to anywhere and give them each a biscuit. The Old Dog seldom is seen; the part wolf is almost as old but he will come out to see what’s going on. The two younger ones have become fast friends in the two weeks that the shepherd has been there.

They must be polite when I come by with cookies for them. The white one (Juliet) will now sit when I stop and look very pretty. Romeo, the pup has learned from her what “sit” means. And Woofie just stays where he is, knowing I will toss him a cookie.

It would seem I have started something... ;o]
Anoreth is only doing what Ash commands her to do! LOL!

“Got any 4’s?”

He had to admit, he didn't.
That was because the Fourians had escaped.
He'd been run down by their swirling mass when they'd run down his particular hallway.
The emergency containment team had shown up, late as usual, and then jokingly asked him if he had any fours.
He was almost ready to verbally explode when from his shirt pocket one lone four peeked at the outside world.

“Gee, thanks - you.” he said as the response team smacked him in the head with their nerfbat containment devices.
“Get it! Get it! Get it!” they monotonously wailed.
It was going to be one of those days.

Just on the news in my area, a single engine plane crashed onto Route 287 in New Jersey, five current fatalities.

Sad news. People fly small planes under the most inappropriate conditions!

Having survived a critical car crash, I can say peeps seem to disallow thoughts of gloom and doom. Had I been driving that day, I would have chosen a different route. My consolation was that my mother was tending my son...otherwise, he would have been with me.

I suspect he doesn’t know.

Physics will get us all, eventually.

Either that, or we’ll be blown off the planet by the gusty sighs of teenagers who aren’t getting exactly what they want right now ...

Investment banker, his wife, two children, and a coworker on their way to Georgia.
It’s cloudy here at the moment, cold, but no icing conditions.
Haven’t heard yet why the plane wen down.
They hit the median on route 287, so no vehicles on the ground were involved.

“Gosh, I’m embarrassed but really happy to be here. Thank you.”

Actually, I’m mortified to be here but glad all the same. It’s been waaaaaay too long since I checked in on a undead thread.

The undead thread: a much needed voice of insanity in these sane times.

Yep. I’m down to fighting off the mongol hordes armed with a carrot on the anti-Paul threads.
