Who is Ginger White?
http://www.nydailynews.com ^ | BY Bill Hutchinson & Joseph Straw

Posted on 11/29/2011 4:59:06 AM PST by Lucky9teen

The Atlanta woman who says she was Herman Cain’s mistress for 13 years is a down-on-her-luck single mom who once sued a former employer for sexual harassment.

Ginger White surfaced in bombshell fashion on Monday, telling an Atlanta TV station that she’s “not proud” of what she described as long-running sexual shenanigans with the married GOP White House contender.

“I didn’t want to come out this way,” she said in an interview with Atlanta’s FOX affiliate WAGA-TV that put Cain on the defensive even before it was aired.

White described herself in the interview as a jobless former businesswoman. She is middle-aged, has two children and was evicted from her Atlanta home earlier this month, according to a background check done by the TV station.

WAGA reporters also found records showing she has been hit with several eviction notices in DeKalb County, Ga., over the past six years.

She filed for bankruptcy 23 years ago, the station reported. In 2001, she also filed a sexual harassment suit, which was later settled, according to the station.

Her former business partner, Kimberly Vay, once sued her and accused her of stalking, the station reported.

Vay, who did not respond to calls for comment Monday, also sought an order of protection against White, charging that she was bombarded with emails and texts “threatening [a\] lawsuit” and defaming her character.

A judge ruled in favor of Vay in a libel suit she had filed against White, the station reported.

White admits she has struggled as a single mother, but added that her financial woes shouldn’t define her.

“I don’t think that makes me out to be a bad person,” she told the station. “It makes me out to be one of the millions of people right now trying to keep a roof over their head.”

White said she ignored the fact Cain was married during their alleged affair, which she said included trysts in hotel rooms across the country. She says they met at a business conference during the 1990s.

“It was pretty simple,” White told WAGA. “It wasn't complicated. I was aware that he was married. And I was also aware I was involved in a very inappropriate situation, relationship.”

Cain, 65, who has been married for 43 years, went on CNN to deny the affair before White’s complete WAGA-TV interview was broadcast live.

His lawyer, Lin Wood, told the TV station that because White hasn't alleged harassment or assault, the matter doesn't belong in the news.

“The public's right to know and the media's right to report has boundaries and most certainly those boundaries end outside of one's bedroom door,” Wood wrote.

White said she came forward because she is upset over how Cain handled previous allegations that he sexually harassed four women, two of whom reportedly received cash settlements from the National Restaurant Association, where he was CEO during the 1990s.

“It bothered me that they were being demonized, sort of; they were treated as if they were automatically lying, and the burden of proof was on them,” White said. “I felt bad for them.”

Cain, the former head of the Godfather’s Pizza chain, was running near the top of the polls before the claims of sexual harassment broke.

Last week, Cain dropped to third place in a national GOP poll run by Quinnipiac University. He came in with 14% of the vote, behind ascendant former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

He said Monday he would stay in the race as long as he had his wife’s support. But White put even more pressure on him, offering what she said was proof of the alleged hush-hush romance.

She gave the TV station loads of cell phone records, and Cain’s personal cell phone, which he answered when someone from the station called it.

She also gave the station’s reporter two books Cain signed for her. In one of them, his 2001 autobiography “CEO of SELF,” Cain added a little note: “Friends are forever! Everything else is a bonus.”

As an aside: 61 calls/texts over a 4 month period doesn't seem to be that excessive.

Good point. A call every other day on average. I could have 20 calls to/from a number in a day just playing phone tag.

There may be days with many calls, or there may be calls of long duration. 61 calls of long duration might be a concern, particularly if they were followed by a hotel reservation call when they were both in the same city.

No proof of anything. I said in an earlier post and I'll say it again:

It is not in my character to throw someone under the bus just because it is politically expedient.

The only way he loses my support is if he is PROVEN to be a liar. Otherwise this is all calumny.

Forget Herman, forget the contest for a minute. Lin Wood was the lawyer for Richard Jewell who was falsely trashed in the media during the Summer Olympics Bombing in 1996. Lin and Richard got loads of wins in court. I believe the Atlanta Constitution case still has not been tried (they delay because they’ll lose)....

My guess is that this legalese is prep work for a lawsuit against her and the TV station.

I just ordered my Cain bumper sticker a couple days ago after I bout a new car. I won’t put it on at this point. If there is no corroborating evidence other than the books (not very intimate signings, but of course you wouldn’t sign “to the woman who sustained me all those long nights”) and the cell phones, I will give Herman another chance.

I do not want to let the MSM tactics win. This one seems different, though. The MSM can’t help it if they are lobbed softballs about horrible behavior from one of our frontrunners. Remember why Charlie sheen used hookers. So they’d leave and so they’d be quiet.

So even the thought of supporting him through this is troubling. I don’t want to be taken in by the media. Neither do I want to be taken in by the candidate I’ve supported through thick and thin so far.

Me also..I'm surprised how many Cain supporters here are also in total denial. You think they woudl remmeber Reagan's watchword "Trust but verify"

But here's what's really irking me with Cain. Let's say that ALL these several "things" with women are completely innocent..He's running for the WH, for pete's sake..he has to know that they are going to turn his lfe inside out..and he failed to prepare, brief his staff..one could make a convincing argument that he's not prepared for day one on the Oval office..

Thank you, Venturer! If she has proof, I want to see it.

The other ridiculous claims against him faded rather quickly when the defamation attorney was hired. They all went quiet; if what they were alleging was true, they would have forged ahead.

What concerns me, as a Cain supporter, is the attorney's response to this. Not too comfortable with that.

If it true Cain is done for.

If it isn’t, and she deliberately collaborated with these other women to ruin his chance’s and destroy his life she and they should be punished.

If it is a lie he should use it as a tool to election.
He should find who put them up to it and hang the SOB.

I would want a hand on that rope myself.

""It's not the facts that matter, it's the seriousness of the charge." Hmm, where have I heard that before? I continue to be amazed at how easily Conservative opinion is manipulated by the media....."

There are 'conservatives' and then there are 'professing conservatives'.

The extreme right and the extreme left are merely flip sides of the same exremist coin. Both extremist sides exhibit a lack of emotional stability.

I love Cain but it troubles me that these weren't the words that immediately came out of his mouth (with smoke coming out of his ears):
This woman is a liar! We never had any kind of physical relationship at all! Period. Amen. She is categorically lying and so is anyone else who makes such claims. I have instructed my attorney to immediately file a defamation lawsuit against Miss White. She has attacked me and attempted to greatly harm my reputation and marriage. I realize that she does not have much money but a stand must be made and I make it today!.

...they know exactly what is being done to Cain and are loving every minute of it because they believe it is helping their candidate whomever that may be...

Pathetic and destructive, isn't it?

Kinda' like the Walmart black Friday shoppers running over people to get what they want... just collateral damage for their $3 waffle iron

...and a $3 waffle iron has as much chance of being elected president as the RINOs in this race.

Fact is...you don't know what the facts are!

Nor do you, yet you revel in the destruction of a man, an American, a person who has thrown his hat in the ring. A man who you must admit (since you don't know what the facts are), may be innocent of all of this.

Besides, should this story result in the end of the Cain campaign, your candidate will be next... and all it will take is someone to accuse your candidate of some indiscretion, true or untrue.

I stand by everything I have said about Mr. Cain.

I really believe he has been in the POTUS race to get name recognition and make money. Serious candidates don't go off on book tours.

A member of Cain's staff has a history of campaign finance problems...banned in Wisconsin, I believe.

I really think that there is reason to suspect that you people who have sent him money have been financing a book tour and he has never intended to be a serious contender.

I think Herman Cain is on an ego trip on the Cain Train and I'm not going along for the ride! But, I am off on an over night road trip...will you miss me?

A call every other day on average.

Actually the reporter lumps phone calls and texts together and doesn't differentiate the number of each from Herman as opposed to how many she originated:

She showed us some of her cell phone bills that included 61 phone calls or text messages to or from a number starting with 678. She says it is Herman Cain's private cell phone. The calls were made during four different months -- calls or texts made as early as 4:26 in the early morning, and as late as 7:52 at night. The latest were in September of this year.
A short session of texting back and forth could be as few as 2 or as many as 10 or more. Was the reporter being intentionally vague so it appears to be more than it is?

Something I just noticed from the article:

The calls were made during four different months
So, it wasn't over a 4 month period - they were even more spread out.
