Yes, I saw Sophie’s Choice, saw it 2-3 times over the years. Not my cup of tea but the critics loved it. Not a Streep fan. The Bridge’s of Madison County was a really good book and whoever decided to cast Streep and Clint Eastwood in those roles must have had a brain freeze.

That movie was filmed near another farmhouse whose owners refused to let them use for the film because it was about adultery! The couple, married for 50+ years, were staunchly opposed so they had to find another farmhouse.
I thought that was pretty cool and wrote the farm owners a letter.
Still haven’t watched that movie. I pretty much despise adultery themes.

Yea, Sophie's Choice was pretty weird but Streep's accent was amazing and her performance truly haunting. I could never watch it clear through more than once - too disturbing.
