Top Ten Most Overrated Actors/Actresses of All Time
big hollywood ^

Posted on 11/20/2011 8:47:17 AM PST by Perdogg

It’s been almost two years since I posted at Big Hollywood regarding the Top 10 Most Overrated Directors of All Time. I’ve had a chance to reflect and think about the crimes I committed in that post. And, to paraphrase Mr. Eko from the greatest TV show of all time, “Lost,” I ask no forgiveness because I have committed no sin … except leaving Spike Lee and Tim Burton off the list, that is.

So, because you all enjoyed that list so much, and because I apparently have a death wish, it’s time for another: The Top 10 Most Overrated Actors/Actresses of All Time

(Excerpt) Read more at bighollywood.breitbart.com ...

I haven’t seen Jake Gyllenhall mentioned yet... I think he’s really good (politics aside).

My brother, who was on the front lines at Persian Gulf I, just like in “Jarhead,” even said that basically all of that stuff did happen to his unit.

In all fairness, I will say I thought Cruise gave a memorable performance in Born on the 4th of July.

Really? Frank Sinatra was actually considered for Dirty Harry?

LOL!

Love that role. The singing was great. Holly Hunter was super.

I thought he was excellent in The Shining and I think one of his best ever was with Diane Keaton in Something’s Gotta Give. That was an excellent movie and the chemistry between them was great. Obviously they are old friends since she dated Warren Beatty and jack and Warren have been best friends for decades.

Yes, I saw it. It didn’t thrill me, not really my type of film. It was kind of weird. One scene in particular, where those women were down at the lake singing that song, forget what the song was, but every time I hear it now I think of that weird scene in that movie. I don’t like Clooney’s acting and I can’t get past his political BS. There was one movie he was in with Michelle Pfeiffer, it was entertaining if you have to sit through a chick flick with your wife and daughter.

That’s hilarious. I like reading the IMDB bios for that very reason. It always tells which roles they turned down. Like Tom Selleck turning down Indiana Jones and Alec Baldwin refusing more Jack Ryan roles (after Red October.) I can’t imagine those w/o Harrison Ford.

Yes, I saw Sophie’s Choice, saw it 2-3 times over the years. Not my cup of tea but the critics loved it. Not a Streep fan. The Bridge’s of Madison County was a really good book and whoever decided to cast Streep and Clint Eastwood in those roles must have had a brain freeze.

Did you see Something’s Gotta Give with he and Keaton. I think it was even better than As Good As It Gets.

Sophie’s Choice portrayed all Poles as anti-semitic, it was garbage.

They’re not; it’s just that nobody has the courage to tell them.

That movie was filmed near another farmhouse whose owners refused to let them use for the film because it was about adultery! The couple, married for 50+ years, were staunchly opposed so they had to find another farmhouse.

I thought that was pretty cool and wrote the farm owners a letter.
Still haven’t watched that movie. I pretty much despise adultery themes.

My husband really likes just about anything Nicholson and especially Something's Gotta Give, but I prefer As Good As it Gets and was thrilled Helen Hunt got an Oscar.

Yea, Sophie's Choice was pretty weird but Streep's accent was amazing and her performance truly haunting. I could never watch it clear through more than once - too disturbing.

Such typical Hollywood Communists, we’ll never see anything about their crimes against humanity, massacres of Catholics, and depraved torture. I’m surprised the one with Ed Harris (”The Way Back”) was even “allowed.”

Shapiro only makes himself look foolish and uninformed when he writes about the history of modern pop culture, IMO.

IOW he doesn't always know what he is talking about.
