I wanted to share a FACEBOOK private Message I received tonight from an old friend (actually, my first boyfriend) who now lives in Massachussetts. Anyone who is my FACEBOOK friend knows my politics, hence..this..
Hi Hildy, I write to you privately so as not to air our differences in public.
Do you still think much of Herman Caine, [sic] who knows nothing of foreign affairs, and admits it. Is this who should make decisions that will effect the entire world? Do you really not believe that it is the 1% are the ones who the republicans cater to? Do you really believe that they care about "Joe six pack", or just lure him in to believe that he too can have some of that American pie "? I live in a million dollar home and have considerable savings, but still have the heart to care about those less fortunate.I truly believe that the republicans are about keeping the tax cuts for the extremely wealthy and let the poor working schmuck pay all the rest. I find this despicable, and don't mind paying my fair share of tax's, as long as the supper wealthy pay their share. What's your take on this?
I am running for office: www.hildyforsupervisor.com
Check it out!
That's the core of the liberal soul--"*I* get to live the lifestyle I criticize others for living, but *I CARE*!"
I was on Facebook literally one day and then deleted almost all my contacts except a couple I let on because of work associations. One friend, an ultra-liberal, just posted the most awful Nation stuff every day. I couldn't figure out where people got the time to post all of this garbage.
I just turned 46, and have admitted I'm becoming one of those 'closed-minded' sorts I used to hate. I'm just too fed up with the incessant stupidity from liberals who keep trying to change me. It seems I give their point of view a fair hearing, but they are dismissive and insulting of mine.
So I feel for you for getting this message. It's why I have very little of this kind of communication. It only infuriates, and life's just too short.
Wpw really? Brand new here that is a $130k home.
You could at least tell him to spell the name right...
Wow really? Brand new here that is a $130k home.
You don’t know the person, we don’t know the person and she didn’t mention a name so who gives a rip? Geez chillax already with self-righteousness.
Parts of New Jersey and around DC are even more expensive.
You should say: "Really? The difference between you and me is that I give to the less fortunate because I choose to, not because I am forced to do so by the government -- which chooses to waste more of my hard earned money than to actually help the poor." And then say, "how's Barack (57 states, Hawaii is in Asia) Obama working out for you since he has driven the U.S. economy into the toilet and our country is a hell of a lot worse off than we were 3 years ago?" Then defriend him.
Hey....that is the exact mirror image of my grandparent’s house when the lived in Arlington, Mass.....back in the day.
That picture was taken in Needham. Pretty much the same kind of money.
I would vote for you, but it is a bit out my district. Good luck. I offer to be your bulldog for free. ;-)
Michael Savage said it before Ann Coulter did. He wrote a book called “Liberalism Is a Mental Disorder.” Actually, I think it’s several disorders rolled into one.
Be glad you no longer with this Putz! Oh and don't let him get the best of you. It's pathetic how brain washed some people are and they do not even know it!
Honey, he was just trying to get a rise out of you. Don’t give him the statisfaction.
Your friend exhibits the traits of those enlisted in the Utopian Brigade of Mark Levin's so-called "Ameritopia".
Next January you'll witness the blinds going up and the sun shining in on what has clouded this country for many years. Dictionary.com describes Utopia thus:
U·to·pi·a [yoo-toh-pee-uh] Show IPA noun
1. an imaginary island described in Sir Thomas More's Utopia (1516) as enjoying perfection in law, politics, etc.
2. ( usually lowercase ) an ideal place or state.
3. ( usually lowercase ) any visionary system of political or social perfection.
I can't wait for his new book because I've lived through a period in this country when trying to create utopia has been ever-present. The utopians have created a lot of 'bleeding hearts', and just how does one go about that? With a lot of knives thrust into the chests of otherwise healthy Americans, that's how.
Sadly, it doesn't end there; individual sovereignty is bled from the person as well. They'll gladly bequeath something of their own (rights) for the well-being of the 'collective' and their peers will hug them, feeling their pain at the recognition of the pain suffered by others while they trek the yellow brick road toward 'destination: Utopia', where life is perfect- almost (because nothing ever is)- and only a gifted few have the eyeballs to see it.
Forming "A More Perfect Union" was not intended to build Utopia, but a place where individual rights flourished beyond the reach of the statist/utopian. That place was America. My, how we have floundered and failed in this regard.
If there is any road back from Utopia it'll require suturing the bleeding hearts to stem the loss of self-respect for individual rights. We'll have to re-teach our little boys that it is alright to kick a bully in the nuts and our little girls to like the boy who does it. And to have many, many babies who'll grow up to do the same. Because, who was the bully that stuck grandma and grandpa in the heart- bleeding it- and screwed things up initially? Was it not a bully? And was it not the government who taught them to 'care' more about others than their own unborn or themselves? Did not, the Supreme Court take away rights people used to take for granted?
Were the road to Utopia not strewn with the bodies of millions of unborn fetuses, I might not recognize the danger ahead, but I do. I will not- get in the boxcar. I will travel no further. Nor will any that I care about. This Train Ain't Bound For Glory is all I need to know. I'm getting off in November 2012. The next media pundit who hollers, "All aboard!" better not do it standing next to me. Just sayin'.
I’d rather have a conservative with no foreign policy experience in the White House than a red diaper baby who actively works against the interests of America running our foreign policy.
You should have just written,
In the past 100 years Leftists, other Statists and believers in "government for good" have killed or murdered over 200 million innocent humans.
You friends sides with evil -- a fact that can't be disputed.
My standard response to one such as this goes along *these* lines:
You are not only confused about *where* you are, you are evidently confused about *when* you are. Hint, this is the United States of America, the 21st century. It most emphatically is *not* Europe, the 12th century. You are *not* Milord/Milady, and I am *not* a serf, and for d-d sure not *your* serf. You may think you're all that, and a bag of chips besides, but I am singularly unimpressed with you, and the size of your ego. When you've got a set of receipts, marked "dues paid' as husband/wife, father/mother, and citizen, then get back to me...
