He's come up from 4th or 5th on my list to probably #1 at the moment. Obviously I can't stand Romney. I wasn't for Cain even before the scandals because I simply do not think the 999 Plan is a good idea. I'd rather not give the government yet another form of taxation to impose on us. I'd much prefer a flat-tax, which Newt is a proponent of. Perry is obviously scum. Palin is out, which sucks. Paul, some days I love him, some days I think he's really crazy.
Bottom line is this, Newt has great ideas on taxes and a pro-growth agenda. He is the best debater in the field. And it turns out his baggage ain't so bad compared to what's being said about Cain. Not saying the Cain stuff is true, but it doesn't look good.
Anyways, if I had to vote tomorrow I'd probably vote for Newt. Anyone else?
Yup, me too. He’s definitely the “grown up” in the room, and I think he could sweep the floor w/0bama if they ever went at it in a debate. Hopefully the citizens would see how much he actually knows vs. the reader in chief we have now.
The shame is that at one time, Newt was a brilliant policy mind. When he became more concerned with “getting along” and “being well liked” by the other side, he quickly sold out his core beliefs. I want someone who is more focused on being effective and less worried about popularity.
Most important, he can take on Zero and make the public realize what a socialist, totalitarian loser he is. I think Newt may even develop coattails and bring enough Republicans to the Senate to reverse the downward spiral of this country.
All this shows me is that Newt got sucked into the global warming hoax in the early days and slowly started to question it over the years. How would this make me any more hesitant?
Cap and trade as well as the individual mandate were both ideas originally propagated by right-leaning organizations. Just goes to show that not all ideas are good ones. I commend Newt for acknowledging that not all the ideas coming from the right back in the day were good ones. As far as I can tell Newt’s economic agenda is solid and very conservative.
Me too, the more I hear from him, the better I like him. My first choice was of course Sarah.

Newt has won me over with his no nonsense approach and his obvious intellect. Of course, I could change my mind tomorrow but if I was voting today, I would cast my vote for Newt.

I guess I’m with you. Newt is all over the board at times and doesn’t seem to be a conservative at heart. He should have run a serious race in 2008 and saved us all this garbage.
Newt is my fallback. I am for Cain. If neither of them make it to my states’ caucus, I simply will not participate.

Newt isn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination but he can lead this country. I too want barack hussein obama destroyed. Newt is just the guy to do it.
If you like Newt, fine, but don’t start casting dispersions on Cain just to bump up your candidate. That’s just wrong.

for instance, when I voted for GWbush the second time, I thought they still had hope. Now I’ve come full circle.
I’m pretty close to being “with you”.
I want to see Newt start showing some real understanding of what the Tea Party wants, needs and expects from a candidate they can get behind, without pandering to them (us).
I’d like to see Cain as his Veep, if his support stops

Without the Tea Party vote no Republican has a chance of winning.
Romney isn’t going to get that vote.
Romney will more likely be getting lots of votes from
Dems and Independents disenchanted with Obama and embarrassed that they ever voted for him. They will in effect be electing another Dem, and we’ll all be pretty much back to Square One.

It just shows that the word conservative is used very loosely.
I believe Newt is getting Perry votes and Cain votes, and is likely to get more from both, unless Perry can work out of the dumper. I simply TRUST Perry on the economy and JOBS, the key issue (now long forgotten) that brought the Tea Party to the surface and turned the 2010 election. The TP is now off plucking a duck and each feather is some other dang different issue that has got us off in the weeds and obliterated our focus on fiscal catastrophe.
The economy was the issue, and Perry was proven to have the goods. The economy is the last thing discussed anymore, as we discuss who is the best debater. Now that’s really an urgent issue isn’t it? Who can stage the best soundbite is the predictor.
Republicans and conservatives are no longer serious. They have jobs and heat and don’t really give a large darn who doesn’t or if we recover. It’s starting to show.
