Dear RedState.com (cross-posted),

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ryan Larsen. I’m a truth lover, chess player and avid political junkie. I co-founded....

OK, here is the point where the mods step in... Originally this Pro-Romney troll went on for about twenty thousand words about how wonderful Romney is and how everyone else sucks. You get the picture. He wrote it to our friends at RedState but posted it here. I take it, probably because he met the same fate there as he just did here. We the mods will save you from all that boredom and just allow you to point and laugh. Carry on.

Ours is bigger, but can’t fly.

That does sound very encouraging.

Put the former owner behind you. We have cursed that person quite enough to cause at least a little spiritual mayhem in his life.

Long live The Stig!

My mother didn't want to clean up after pets, so I never had so much as a gerbil growing up. I had a goldfish once, but my dad always had a blue parakeet named Wino. Every time it died, mom would buy him another one. "He" used to talk, sing bird songs, chatter, chirp, etc. all day.

When I was 10 and my idiot sister was 21, she got annoyed at his chirping and threw his cage out the back door and down the stairs. The cage was jarred open, and he got out and flew away, never to return. I wonder what else she did to him, although it didn't occur to me at the time.

Gimme a break! I was 10.

After Mom quit working, she became the keeper of the succession of Winos, and she had a way with them. They always trusted her completely. They would lay down on their backs in her hand so that she could give them a shower in the kitchen sink. They always hopped right on her hand when she took them out of the cage. And she knew enough to put a towel over the cage when she wanted some peace and quiet, unlike my idiot sister.

When Mom died, that was the end of the succession of Winos.

I didn't get a pet until I was 34 years old.

This looked quite weird, although I realized it couldn't be quite what it seemed when I saw,

They would lay down on their backs in her hand so that she could give them a shower in the kitchen sink.

I was Scrolling Text ;-).

Once I saw that they were sitting on the palm of her hand to take showers, I scrolled back up to see *what* was.

Howdy. Just got back from a walk. Snow on the ground about 1/2 inch. 24F.

Snow on Mt Charleston and the Spring Range to the west and snow on the Sheep Range to the north, today. It got down to 39 last night with a high of 59 today.

The snow board resort on Mt Charleston may soon open. :o]

About time to get a heated mattress pad for the big bed...

It was 21 in Kyle Canyon last night to the west of us. That’s not as high as Mt Charleston, but it, too, gets plenty of snow.

The Stig has some new toys and other things (real bird dishes!) in his cage and he is checking them all out. I can’t believe how much I spent on that silly bird today! But a rescue is a rescue!

He sang a lot yesterday, and I’m sure by tomorrow, when he gets used to the new digs, he will be singing again. He now has gravel, millet and a mineral block as well as a shaggy toy to shred.

He’s good! They live about 20 years.

"MEG33 gave me that graphic."

I've seen it before. I know because I wrote a poem to go with the image.

Scan back a few years in the Undead Thread posts and you'll see it.

It's quiet here in Pennsylvania. I'm not sure whether I should fix it.

Good to know its history. Working the FReepathon last time, I did a series of "touring" posts (SPAM) with a baby dragon theme, and Meg was kind enough to contribute that one.

It is my favorite, and I'd love to read the poem. Right now I'm late for a SPAM run tour, but I may have time later to search through years of monthly Undead ThreadsTM. Sure!

Afternoon, all y’alls. Glad to hear the bird is doing well.

Bill took the SAT this morning - says his language/essay scores should be outstanding, and he doesn’t know about math. He said that about the PSAT, too, and his math score was in the 75th percentile, so I expect this will turn out okay, too. He can take it again if he thinks he needs a higher score.

He also drove someplace (Guitar Center?) with some other kid, and returned safely, while Frank and I were napping and couldn’t worry about it. We have “la gripa,” that useful Spanish term: runny nose, cough, sneezing, and a general feeling of yuckness.

The James kicked a wall yesterday, to show they were annoyed, and have a purple foot today. The limp is improving as the day goes on, except when he thinks about it and makes an effort ;-).
