Hi everyone-- I'm a longtime lurker of FR and just signed up to get your feedback about a question I am sure many of us are asking ourselves. As a lifelong conservative, I am concerned about the possibility (probability?) of Mitt Romney receiving the GOP nomination for president next year. Many of my friends are convinced Romney will win the nomination, but I am very concerned that if he were to get into office, he would not stand up for the conservative policies we desperately need after the past four years. I want Obama out of office more than anything, but how do I reconcile the possibility of supporting Romney? Is there a third party candidate to draft who could help us take back our country?
Any feedback from all of you is much appreciated-- I just don't know what to think at this point. Thanks!
I still haven’t decided on a primary candidate. But come the general, I’m voting GOP, Romney or not. That’s a no-brainer.
So in your book lying panderer = good politician. It is obvious why you admire Mittens so much.
. . . which is why, almost 2 years ago, I adopted my tagline, "Draft Palin"I haven't abandoned it, even tho it looks like a long shot at this point with her having disavowed any plan to run. But then, a draft does not require a run by the person drafted, does it?
As I say, I adopted that tagline precisely because of the need to fend off a Romney run in '12. If we could have coalesced around a solid conservative, and I thought (and think) Palin was solid, we would have been able to nip the Romney/Establishment problem in the bud.
As if people not organized enough to win elections will be able to riot their way to power and maintain that power in a sensible manner or at all for that matter. Not voting is a form of surrender.
So, someone's already "fixed" your vote? Romney can't win unless a majority of Republican voters vote for him. Are you telling me that they have no choice, and MUST give him their vote?
If you really don't want Romney for our nominee, now's your chance to prevent it from happening. Educate everyone you know about his liberal record. Send emails. Post to Facebook. Get up and talk to your local Tea Party group.
Do whatever it takes, but don't sit there hanging your head as if there's nothing you can do to stop him.
Then work your ever lovin' tail off for Herman Cain. If Romney is the last man standing, so many conservatives will stay home, Obama will win by default.
The Democrats know this, which is why they're handling Romney with kid gloves. They WANT him to be our nominee, precisely because they know that conservatives hate his guts.
I think you're right, Pallis. The conservatives who are running in the single digits should consider falling on their swords for the good of the nation. We cannot afford to elect anyone but a red meat, take no prisoners, conservative reformer in 2012.
Johnson, Huntsman, Bachmann, Paul, Perry - all of them need to wake up and smell the coffee. They're not going to win this thing, but they sure can hand it to Romney if they all keep hanging on.
Add up their numbers (small as they are) and those votes would give Cain the decisive edge against Mitt in every state.
We can't afford another "Republican" like Bush Jr. The TSA is a Bush production. I've always questioned why Bush didn't investigate Clinton, and the Wicked Witch of Park Ridge, Il, and indict the F%^kers. I suspect that he was afraid that the Dims would dig up the sins of the son.
Hmmm....... not a good indicator. Caught another newbie doing that, just the other day.
This one is begging for the Kitties to show up to play.
Weak, and ever so wrong.
A bit counter-intuitive, but I get your logic. I'm almost there myself, but there's no way in HELL that I would ever pull a lever for the Kenyan Usurper. I'll write in Sarah Palin, and go home to clean my guns, if Mitt's the nominee.
Knock. Knock.
There was an article, a few days ago, about security in the Chicago voting process. Look it up.
How about Senator "Smalley" and his "keep counting until the results are what we want..." method of electoral protest? Milwaukee and Dem Vandalism?
St. Louis and "Keep the polls open until we've finished stuffing the ballot boxes?"
How about the fight to keep voters from being verified as actually eligible?
If Romney wins, the Dow will limp along, more fed regulations will pass, more government intrusion will screw things tighter, and RINO supporters will dimly wonder why things aren't getting any better.
Then, one day the SS checks will bounce.
I really Love Sarah. But she herself has expressed her desire NOT to be POTUS at this time. I think it would be disrespectful(as well as unconstitutional)to FORCE her!
Please, God, NO!
That is my intention! :-)
Well ok, you’ve surrendered. Now what?
What’s your plan going forward, or are you going to sit there trying to demoralize everyone who’s still got some fight left in them?
>> Romney can’t win unless a majority of Republican voters vote for him <<
Not really correct. A plurality could very easily be all it would take.
Well, of course. It's what I meant, in so many words.
