You really, really do not want to disable the updates.

Were you aware that a majority of viri are getting through your security software, due to huge, gaping holes in Adobe software? This is why Steve Jobs went on record, stating that he would NOT allow any of his mobile products to support FLASH. He planted his feet and said not only ‘no’ but HELL NO!!

By turning your updates off; you might as well disable your anti-virus programs too.

It’s your PC, not mine.

I have not disabled updates and in fact have had no trouble since I installed MicroSoft Security Essentials instead of AVG and ZoneAlarm, updated Flash (again) and set the settings on their website.

That said I have never had a virus since I began surfing the web in '97 and I used a box with W95 w/no anti-virus at all for about a year around 2000.
