OK, as usual today I read through a dozen (actually probably more) threads about various subjects.
I am interested is seeing the news. I am interested in reading other peoples opinions about what is happening.
Just about every thread I visited had such a huge amount of rancor and spite and outright viciousness it was practically unbearable.
So what is up with all the fighting? Why does every thread turn into a room full of drunk badgers, wolverines with an estrogen overload, and cross dressing hyenas?
Don't we have the ability to be even just a little bit civil with people we disagree with? Are we not adults here? Or at least trying to be?
I finally realized why I've been getting the urge alot lately to pop "Lord of The Flies" in my DVD players!
I understand that people have strong opinions about politics, but it's getting to the point I'd be scared to go to a FReeper party because I KNOW it would turn into a flash mob brawl!!
Calm down folks! Switch to decaff or something!
Now you’re starting another pissing match! I suppose you don’t dig the art of Barry Manilow either?
I’ve always liked Connie Francis. Who’s up for the challenge?
Up until Kenny G, I was with you...
“You should see the juvenile remarks and taunts and insults that now pass for “discussion” here on FR.”
I believe what you’re saying. It shows something important; it shows that FR is drawing interest based on its reach and its steadfastness. It shows that lots of interlopers feel they have to come to FR to attempt to disrupt things just like the lame dweebs who are doing all this “Occupy” crap! They hate seeing us making our message heard.
Me stressed??? Don’t touch me damnit. Don’t even look at me.
Shut up. Just shut UP!
Just ONE TIME...$%3%%*+*$!’:;/
(Heh)
That sounds like you are personally picking a fight with me. Since you are calling for more civility, there will be only one way to settle this.
A Duel.
Just the commercial jingles...
Freeper parties are not like this. People get crazy when they are at the computer.
Things will calm down here when we all get behind our candidate for president, Senator Jim DeMint.
What I see is people taking a difference of opinion as some sort of personal slur and flying off the handle.
As long as most of us have been around the net, people ought to know by now how easy it is to misinterpret the attitude of online exchanges.
I have had some rather nasty responses to posts that were completely unwarranted (IMO anyway). Most of the time when I responded back calmly and courteously the other person cooled off and we had a worthwhile exchange.
Common courtesy is not a sign of weakness. Despite what the ingrates at DU and Koz seem to think.
Eye on the ball folks. FR is *much* more important in the scheme of things than many realize. Strong disagreements do not mean we aren’t on the same side. And we ARE better than our liberal opponents.
You’ll have to pry my caff from my cold dead hands.
That said: a storm is a brewing. When you find yourself, and everything you hold dear, staring into the abyss... Things can heat up and get a bit dicey.
While I miss him greatly; I’m glad my father (or The Father) chose to take him home in the summer of ‘08 in a peaceful manner. He would have never survived in that way, in the world we’re in now. What we’re living in now would have broken his heart.
And it seriously........ Grrr......
Yeah....I think Amanda’s last name is Knox not Fox. But then I could be wrong.... :^)
For all his liberal carp, Manilow is actually a pretty nice guy (we had the same gardener).
I think it’s anxiety borne of despair. Or else it’s just de-evolution. Or maybe they just need a drink.
Grassroots activism is working - see 2010 rat sweep - and extending this to the executive is somehow a hell of a lot harder.
It’s OK. Next November the Tea Party will sweep out another 80 rats, and hundreds more at the State level. Whether we have the organizational ability to boot zero is in doubt now.
If we can’t get behind the candidate who will sandblast zero & co. off the face of our CONUS, at least we will probably have the discipline to strangle him with the reddest Congress and Senate the US has ever seen.
