Governor Palin

Posted on 10/06/2011 7:00:39 PM PDT by Outlaw Woman

The absolutely incredible and historic opportunity presented to you has now been squandered. Governor, what was the point? You accomplished great things (for which I thank you) after resigning but keep in mind that the reason for the support was that people believed you were going to run for President yourself. Do you honestly believe that people and supporters surfaced for any other reason? You allowed the 'illusion' to continue knowing full well you were not going to run..

Some people uprooted their lives and some, spent their savings because of the belief they had in you. You would have been one of the greats Governor; you could have help to right this magnificent ship we call the United States of America, but instead, like any other politician, you hide behind others and use them as your excuse to not run.

Your fellow countrymen/women called on you and you led all of us on a wild goose chase ending with a wimpish letter declining to run. I'm sorry for you; I’m more sorry for my country. I’m glad & eternally grateful that men going into World War II didn’t refuse because their children begged them not to go; we’d all be speaking german now and ignoring the slaughter of undesirables if they had.

Family loyalty is a wonderful thing Governor, but without our mangificent country the family unit will be reduced to nothing.

President Palin would have been far more effective than Citizen Palin. In the end it turns out that you are just another politician.

What you say makes enormous sense to me. At this point, for myself, I am leaning toward Perry.

You are right...Cain handles himself (a thousand times) better than Perry; however, I am not willling to go with an empty suit. To me, Cain is a blank slate; much like Obama was. Yes Cain has extensive ‘private’ sector experience but he also worked for the Fed banking system for years.

Whatever happens though FRiend, lets please not attack each other or other supporters of these gentlemen. Let’s debate the ISSUES. This will all shake out and hopefully with the strongest one rising.

Whatever the decision though we have to make sure that ROMNEY CRASHES!

Who knew Palin had so many drams queen followers.

Why don’t you just grow up? This thread is for discussion and not for you people that are clinging...

Obama had and has the full power of the press behind him. Hate to break it to you... not everyone reads FR.

I’m not her campaign manager. I didn’t tell her not to run. I’m just telling you what I think is behind her thinking. I bet she agrees with me, not you, and I know we can’t know that but the evidence is right in front of our faces, isn’t it?

I’d hope she comes to some sort of senses, then endorses Cain, and Cain in return IMMEDIATELY makes a point to say she’ll be his VP nominee.

Not a chance. Palin will never, ever again play second fiddle. She had that chance with McCain and they lost. No nominee would want her as a VP running mate anyway because her celebrity would overshadow the real candidate and the election would become about Sarah (something that she knew she couldn't overcome as the nominee to begin with).

I don't think Palin is going to endorse anyone till we have an obvious nominee. I know a lot of people are going to be really disappointed, but even if Romney wins the nomination she is going to endorse, support and campaign for him. She's made it clear this election is about ABO, and given a chance to single Romney out as unacceptable she has never done so.

Palin is going to help the Republican party win as many seats as possible in 2012. I think she is going to be able to do a lot of good, particularly on the local and state level.

Maybe she just doesn't care?

It's pretty obvious now that all of Fox News knew she wasn't running and her objective was to string out a decision. After all, there was active fund raising going on for SarahPac, her ratings on Fox were important, her books continued to sell, and then there was the movie which just hit store shelves a couple of days before her decision (what a coincidence!).

I'm glad she helped with the 2010 elections. Good thing she didn't discover she had a family last year!

GOP establishment was against her. Absolutely no support.
She can’t rely on Tea Party because of in-fighting in Tea-Party, they created circus during Iowa rally.
Romney was able to move primary early, she had little time to organize. Moving primary date did its purpose. They were able to keep her out.

I like Cain and I like Perry.

They both have compelling stories and despite the hate here on FR, they both have great records.

However, only one of them has the record in politics and it’s extensive. That pushes me towards Perry but I could be happy with Cain once he realizes that 9/9/9 will turn into 12/12/12 and 15/15/15... etc etc

I thought a lot of Palin in 2008. The aftermath of the election and then some of the post-campaign revelations about what happened during that time made me raise an eyebrow.

Her sudden resignation (for financial reasons personally) is what really turned me sour on her. Someone who is constantly calling on others to “fight” and “carry on” and “take the tough choices” and then does the opposite themselves. It was striking to me at the time. The first thing she did after that was run off to LA to get a reality show contract. My eyebrows hike a bit further.

Then, this entire gorilla ballet that’s been playing out over the summer of whether she will or won’t....all the while she is doing absolutely nothing to build an actual national campaign network for anything like a POTUS run.

I hated watching it. It was clear there were a lot of people of were becoming very emotionally and financially involved in something, that from the outside, looked so very “not there.”

Palin has a serious and clear history of acting rashly and spontaneously.....not necessarily good things in a potential President when such stakes are on the line. She left the Governorship because of attack dog media and legal challenges, right? Would you have expected that same media and legal attack to have not been even worse were she to be POTUS? It doesn’t add up. The very reasons she stated for leaving AK Gov were also the very things she would have faced by a factor of 100 running for POTUS.

I think that Palin is rather indecisive when it comes to things. I think that she may have been thinking seriously of a run since 2008 and ramped that effort up in the Spring........only to have some cold reality come flying up and slap her in the face. Most polling not good, very poor attempt at a national organization, etc. The decision may have been made in just the last few days and, if so, that’s worrisome too.

Other things don’t add up as well. Apparently the network wanted another season of “SP’s Alaska” and she turned it down. Fox has publicly stated they are looking to separate from her. I’m not sure, apart from Twitter/Facebook, where her public outlet will be. She’s not going to wind up on CNN or MSNBC or the Alphabets.

Her name will stay alive for a while, where and how I’m not sure, but I have no idea what her “big picture” plan is. I’m not sure at all that she does either......

Actually, the decision is pretty easy. Palin would have had to run AGAINST the GOP. All of the party and Washington insiders would have tried to sabatoge her campaign.

Her odds of winning were EXTREMELY low, not because she is a bad candidate, but becasue she would have to run against the Democrats, the Republican Establishmnet and the media.

ME: That’s over 100 days ago. If Sarah had decided NOT to run, why did she string us along? And how does she still deserve honor & respect if she DID string us along?

YOU: Probably so a few here on FR could bash us over the heads with her Sun Tzu brilliance and tear down other candidates.

If your assessment is correct, Sarah would be a scumbag.

I have still not heard a responsible sober answer to the question I posed in post # 41.

"where is your heart and love of country ?"

Behind a candidate that has actually declared and doesn't have negative numbers around 60 percent.

I mean exactly what I said. Every word of it. You’re extremely lucky it was Sarah Palin and not me. I would have told the press, the GOP establishment, the conservative establishment, and frankly a good number of you people “go eff yourself” long before now in her position. Except I wouldn’t have cleaned it up.

Who is that candidate ?

Do you really think Palin’s negative were carved in stone ? She did nothing wrong until yesterday.

it is a crummy job and is not worth the hassle. Sorry but that is how I feel. I seriously would not want the job even if it paid 1 trillion dollars a year.

I'd take the job of President for minimum wage.

Sorry, Palin didn't choose not run for President because the job is crummy, she didn't run because she did not think she could win. Most polling made that pretty obvious for a very long time now. Sarah will now go on to help a lot of conservatives in their elections and that is a good thing. Her celebrity can bring instant attention and money to Tea Party type candidates that need some attention to get traction. While I long ago concluded she wasn't running, she is still going to do a great service to the conservative cause going forward.
