Governor Palin

Posted on 10/06/2011 7:00:39 PM PDT by Outlaw Woman

The absolutely incredible and historic opportunity presented to you has now been squandered. Governor, what was the point? You accomplished great things (for which I thank you) after resigning but keep in mind that the reason for the support was that people believed you were going to run for President yourself. Do you honestly believe that people and supporters surfaced for any other reason? You allowed the 'illusion' to continue knowing full well you were not going to run..

Some people uprooted their lives and some, spent their savings because of the belief they had in you. You would have been one of the greats Governor; you could have help to right this magnificent ship we call the United States of America, but instead, like any other politician, you hide behind others and use them as your excuse to not run.

Your fellow countrymen/women called on you and you led all of us on a wild goose chase ending with a wimpish letter declining to run. I'm sorry for you; I’m more sorry for my country. I’m glad & eternally grateful that men going into World War II didn’t refuse because their children begged them not to go; we’d all be speaking german now and ignoring the slaughter of undesirables if they had.

Family loyalty is a wonderful thing Governor, but without our mangificent country the family unit will be reduced to nothing.

President Palin would have been far more effective than Citizen Palin. In the end it turns out that you are just another politician.

She was the BEST LEADER we have. She is better than the entire list of candidates right now !

nobody is pefect. But that is like saying the Colts should have benched Johnny Unitas if they were losing. If you can’t win with your best, you can;t win period.

I’m a little sick of people whining because Sarah Palin didn’t live up to their beliefs. They chose to be disciples of a woman who never claimed to be the messiah and now suddenly its her fault.

Frankly, anyone who spent their savings or left their home for Sarah Palin needs their head examined and I like the woman.

If the Founding Fathers had put family first, we’d all have crooked teeth and be driving on the wrong side of the road.

I have to say I agree with you. As I said on another thread, people were not buying her books, selling out her speeches, and traipsing all over Iowa for who she was, but for who she could be.

Hey, I have an idea, why don’t we try to get Fred Thompson to run? /s

I respect your enthusiasm, I really do.

But you should respect Sarah Palin’s judgement. It wasn’t just about family loyalty, you know — though it was completely fair of her to limit her explanation to that.

But you must know that if she really thought she had a realistic chance she would have gone for it.

I am still sort of stunned. And a bit angry (for being strung along). But I wish her nothing but the very best. She will remain a strong voice for conservatism. I am sure of that.

She had a reasonable chance with Obama’s approval rating at 40%. To say otherwise is just silly.

Don’t feel bad. Newt pulled the rug out of under me in my early 20’s when I was part of the Gingrich revolution. I was crushed and he went on his merry way.... All those things that were so fundamentally important to me were not as important as a skirt to Newt.

I learned that all politicians are mortal, prone to mistakes and failures, and our Republic depends on the greatness of it’s people, not politicians.

I think Sarah made the right decision for her family. I wish for the sake of you and others she had decided sooner.

Sarah's not interested in being "great." She is being obedient to God and that is the more important quality we should all strive for. I am happy for her and I look forward to what God has in store for her. The Bible tells us to put our faith in God and not in Man. The reasons are obvious, judging from yours and several other threads, blogs and articles.

I would think you would have learned from the Obama experience that one politician is not going to save you or the country just because he or she is telegenic and charismatic. I believe in conservative values and I support those politicians who share my values but I don't put my complete faith in those politicians to solve every problem. They are humans and will fail. I put my trust in God because he never fails. That way I don't wake up one day bitter, angry and pouty-face.

She could have been great if she had a political party backing her.

The Republican party did not help her in 2008, in Alaska once she returned, or in the last 3 years. Even worse, they hindered her....actively squashed her, along with the entire Democrat party apparatus of MSM, Hollywood and Academia.

The GOP is dead.

FR just doesn't know it yet.

The GOP would have never supported her. That is the sad truth. GOP = Socialist Lite. They’ll go the way of the Whigs after 2012. Don’t blame Sarah for the RINO sellouts.

You act like she’s passed on or something...sheesh...she’s only 46....and she will be VERY helpful to the Conservative movement (as she SAID LAST NIGHT). She’ll BE BACK!!! Just maybe not in the role YOU wanted her in. I don’t believe it was HER time to be President, and she knew it....it may be in the future.

She had ready-made ammunition for the killer of all attack ads:

She quit the Oil & Gas Commission.
She quit the Alaska Governorship.
How long before she quits the Presidency?

She needs to fill out her resume on the national level (Senator from Arizona? Secretary of Interior under President Cain?) before she invalidate that kind of attack.

Reposting and updating from a different thread:

I've been a Palinista since I first learned about her in 2007, but my thoughts and opinions follow yours closely.

What infuriates me at this stage was the cutsie-cutsie "Now you see me, now you don't. Maybe I will, maybe I won't..." game she has been playing with the media and US for the last several months.

There's an uncouth word for girls who like to play that sort of teasing game and leave their men panting in agony -- I won't repeat it here.

Sigh...

Suffice to say it would have been so MUCH better if she had decided and announced this months ago. Better for the country, better for Conservatives, better for the Republican Party -- and for her own credibility -- which has now been shot to pieces.

She is never going to regain the level of trust and passionate dedication that was hers until yesterday. That's a fact.

She's finished as anything more than a celebrity at this point. No one is ever going to consider her seriously for office at the national level again.

“Just talk to your neighbors and friends and family and you will see. “

Not to be a jerk but, really outside of places like FR and other net sites, I can’t find anybody that gives a damn.

This whole election is like that (as usual). 99% of people are just not yet engaged.

Conservative soldiers were mostly AWOL when she was so viciously attacked by libs and the media. Before I expect her or any other person to take the reins and lead us out of this mess we need to be willing to stand up for them and stand right with them. Without strong fearless people willing to stand with her she would be giving her life for nothing, more like suicide than nobly giving one’s life for one’s country.

Conservatives need to be worthy of great leadership- Palin or anyone else. We cannot sit on our arses and expect Palin or anyone else to wage this war alone to take back our country. Until we are willing to stand up to the libs and the media every single time they spin and twist the knife on other conservatives we get what we deserve for leadership. Until we are willing to stand up to RINOs everytime they do what RINOs do we deserve more RINOs. No great soldier ever won a war without being surrounded by great troops.
