If her “brand is diminished” then she must not have had much to say .... and conservative ideas must be a diminishing brand.

If the Founding Fathers had put family first, we’d all have crooked teeth and be driving on the wrong side of the road.

The Founding Fathers didn't have to worry about 'putting family first' because they had wives who were home taking care of their children, so the men didn't have to worry about the day to day running of the households. Thankfully, times have changed, and women who want to take on the challenge of running for office can do so. Sarah has done it in the past, but she decided the time wasn't right for her family right now. Considering what she, and her dis, have endured the past few years, I don't blame her one single bit!

I have seen the the words a million times. but what does Palin baggage mean ? She has no Gary Hart type scandal. Shes not even as far right as Barry Goldwater was on all the issues.

the issues and leadership is what should matter.. but thats not the case right now

In my mind no one would make a better president than Sarah Palin.

Ours is not, nor has it ever been a “cult”. It is rather a recognition of a person with extraordinary gifts, and a reacord of success against all odds. Is it really surprising that folks can get excited about such a person? Bob

"Sarah Palin DEFINITELY could have won."

If you believe for a nanosecond that Palin had polling done that indicated she would win, and walked away from it, you are sadly mistaken. She is smarter than that.

Her “brand” is not diminished, but her *personal* effectiveness will take a steep nosedive. Blessings, Bob

Appreciate the reprise.

Now, do what you think is best. Be sure to vote. You know your thoughts and I mine. Make decisions thus so.

I don’t need replies. You should do as you see fit.

That’s all. The “Country” will see it’s way.

Polling at this juncture is virtually meaningless. BHO was getting crushed in national polls into the spring of ‘08, by Hitlery and Republicans. Bob

All this maudlin, over the top aggrandizement of Sarah Palin tells me that a lot of people are really despairing and in need of something or someone to believe in. I guess it’s a sign of the times.

On June 28th 2011, Bristol Palin said on "Fox & Friends" that Sarah had "DEFINITELY DECIDED" whether to run or not.

Maybe Bristol didn't know as much as she thought she did. I listened to Sarah, not those who claimed they knew what she was thinking.

You make a good point about polls. But I still feel that the combination of the establishment and the media would go through hell and high water to prevent Palin from succeeding, like nothing ever seen before. Seriously, I think there would be elements therein which would have had Palin or her children killed just to prevent her from reaching the Oval Office. It’s a grim, almost-hyperbolic statement, I admit, but I believe it.

And how does she still deserve honor & respect if she DID string us along?

To specifically answer your question -

Bristol Palin is the teenage daughter. She is just a child and it’s crazy to see how much stock people put in the words of a teenager. Sarah is a big girl and she could speak for herself. Reading the words of a teenager and all this crazy cryptic crap we have seen here on FR is pointless.

Sarah Palin is extremely competitive. It shows all over her and I am sure part of her was screaming to get in this race because she does not like to be told she can’t do something. I believe this part of her screamed that she could win.

However, that is just one facet of a person. She is obviously spiritual and it does not sound like she felt it was right to run after much prayerful deliberation.

She is also, much more important than her competitiveness, a mother and wife. She saw her family thrown on a roller coaster that they still can’t get off of in the 2008 election. She saw what happened afterwards. I respect her decision for these two reasons and Todd and the kids will be better off for it.

However, lest we forget, she is also a politician. After you win your first election you are a politician. She is a shrewd lady and I am sure unfavorable calculations were a factor.

The media and cynics.... they are going to say she did it to make money. And she has made money.... lots of it. In the final tally, she made the kind of money that many people would consider worthy compensation for being made fun of by the media. She can now mint money in speaking fees and as a talking head. Good for her!

I don’t think money was the factor but get used to that message and it will resonate with many people. I still admire her and dislike McCain, the MSM, and the Romney wing of the party for the treatment she endured. However, people need to understand that we will never know the reasons she did or did not, we will never know why she left so many of her most dedicated supporters at the altar, and we will never know her exact motives.

She is not running and it’s incumbent on all those who supported her wholeheartedly to take a calm, rational, and reasoned look at the other candidates in the field and defeat Obama next November.

Life will go on FRiend. Put your faith in God and vote for the best person available. There is no use in analyzing the Palin process any more. Projecting all of our hopes and dreams onto another mortal is not healthy.

Learn from it. Don’t mourn it. The MSM was as wrong about SP as the Freeper’s were. Don’t hate either. Learn from it

Examine every pol’ left or right. A politician is a politician is a politician. There is no “purity” among them. They all have their angle.

Do not hate a Romney because he has built the infrastructure. Do not mourn a Palin for she hasn’t.

Et Cetera, Et cetara..........

On June 28th 2011, Bristol Palin said on "Fox & Friends" that Sarah had "DEFINITELY DECIDED" whether to run or not.

But the next day, when asked about Bristol's news-making statement on "Fox & Friends", Sarah said on camera "OK now Bristol, what was said on the fishing boat STAYS on the fishing boat."

That was over 100 days ago. If Sarah had decided NOT to run, why string us along for three freakin' months?
