The Twenty-Five Worst Album Covers of All Time

Inspired by the ugliness of the new Jane's Addiction album, The Great Escape Artist, we here at List Of The Day (ok, just me and a bunch of friends with great suggestions) compiled a bunch of lists of album covers that are, in the technical sense, awful.
The list below is one where real record companies were involved and artists who sold actual records were aware that the albums would go into the stores looking like this.
Fact is, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of terrible album covers. A web-search suggests that 90 percent of them come from religious artists who believe that competent artwork is akin to committing the sin of vanity.
Enjoy these album covers that dare you to enjoy the music held within its confines.

Then, there was this cover, not seen by many, which was later shamelessly imiated by a British band, now forgotte, what's their name, and which had in the background my VW bug, for which sight I was never compensated.

When I was a child, I remember sitting and staring at that cover. (Yes, I’m a girl).
I’ve always been interested in art and set design, and as a kid, I saw it totally differently than adults. I couldn’t figure out how they got the woman in the whipped cream. I did figure out that it was a towel around the back, though.
I also read later that most of it was shaving cream (looks better and lasts) and only the bits on her hands was whipped cream.

There was a Volume 2, too, dude!

Sorry, missed that admonition on my first run through.
But there are plenty of really bad covers out there today. The style now is to be "weird" rather than attractive, which is what the mode was when I was a kid. So there is plenty of weird.
Here are some strange recent ones, found right on the front page of Amazon:

That album cover should stand as a cautionary tale of what happens when you mix drugs, money and musical desperation.
