Another pair that people confuse: “infer” and “imply”. Even Ronald Reagan used to get this wrong.
Had adear cuban doctor friend who pluralized plural words. Would crack me up. I’d hear him tell patients...
“Ok, take all your closes (clothes) and shoeses (shoes) off and put both feets on the table.”
He apparently wanted to ensure he was right about half the time.
What about...
“different from” and “different than”?
What about those and the usage?
MARK (or is it Marc?)
One of our department managers uses ‘definitAly’ instead of inserting e’.
Our VP embarrassed him in front of the staff. I feel for the guy. But for crying out loud, the guy is 45 years old and still spells that way???
Apostrophes drive me nuts. I think half the posters here at FR use them at the end of every other word.
It's a new trend for some reason. I didn't notice it until just a few years ago. I think people put apostrophes at the end of words that end in "s" to try to make themselves look smarter. The result is that they just look stupid.
Don't even get me started on "your" and "you're"
