I used to love this show. As a young adult in 1990, when I first heard about the show, I scoffed at it, figuring it was some lame effort at crude humor aimed at the lowest elements. But when I watched it, I saw it had a brilliant take on society, and every show had a positive message overall.
Sure they had political spoofs. But I thought they were fair and even handed.
Then around 2000, the show went downhill rapidly. The writing became crap, and the show slowly started turning MSNBC. The end of of my watching this show became around 2003 or 2004 when they had something like 3 straight episodes trashing the Iraq War with an obvious anti-Bush bias.
I guess if you were an Olbermann fan, you'd have liked it still, but now the show makes me want to vomit. I don't think I've seen an episode in 6 years, and from what I see on other forums, I'm probably right.
I tend to think other Freepers feel the same way.
Liberals ruin everything they touch - it’s seems to be in their DNA.
same way for “family guy”. I tried to watch the premier last night, figuring the premier had to be good. I bailed after 5 minutes.
3 1/2 minutes into the first episode
Uhm.. half way through the first episode. Dealing with stupid people is hard enough in real life without having to watch them in fictional cartoon series.
never watched it
You matured. The show didn’t change.
The day it debut!
Uh, the very first episode!!!
First one. Hey, I gave them a chance.
December 17, 1989.
Family Guy is even worse. Sickening in fact.
Everything about these shows cry liberal mush heads.
Doh!
Simpsons seasons 3-9 are just the absolute best!
It started to changed after Phil Hartman died it seems, but I quit watching altogether about 2 season premiers ago.
I tried to watch it, and as soon as a bunch of obviously democrat hippie characters started rapping about something, that was it for me.
Still watch it lol.
Way back when, back when they started to trash the nuclear power industry . . . at that point, I'd had enough. Plus the fact that it was another "totally ignorant, stupid-ass husband" show. I tire of them in shows and commercials.
You presume it was once watchable. I reject your premise.
