Real estate mogul Donald Trump called Texas Gov. Rick Perry a "terrific guy" Thursday, but then called him by the wrong name.
"I had dinner last night with Jim Perry," Trump told The Street Network. "I was impressed with him."
Trump and Perry dined at the pricey Jean-Georges restaurant in New York City on Wednesday night.
Trump has said that the GOP presidential candidates are all reaching out to him for input, prompting senior Trump adviser Michael Cohen to describe Trumps influence over the primary candidates as that of the Godfather of politics. Trump told conservative Sean Hannity on Thursday that he is meeting with Perry's fellow front-runner, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, next week, and he reportedly met with Rep. Michele Bachman (R-Minn.) earlier this year.
“James” Richard Perry
He wants to be a king maker but he is irrelevant.
I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. Maybe he really DID have dinner with some guy named Jim Perry.
He did - Rick Perry’s first name is James.
Good grief, The Trump is so busy grooming himself throughout each day he can hardly be expected to keep up with the news. Hilarious, and out of touch.
That’s even worse.
I have learned never to trust someone who uses their middle name.

Heck, I went to school with a Jim Perry. He turned out to be a golf pro!
Jim Perry is Gaylord’s brother.
Maybe Jim and Don are on a first name basis.
>He wants to be a king maker, but he is irrelevant.<
I wish he wanated to be king! He’s the only one with the necessary $$$, and I like his hutspa!
*snicker* :)
With the focus on birth certificates lately I would think people would have checked his.
FYI...His first name is James which people do use Jim as a nickname. Rick is his middle name. Trump was just trying to play with people a bit by saying Jim instead of Rick. Not really funny but not a mistake.
They’re cousins...
I think he was saying “Jim Crow”. Trump is a spoiler.
Thanks a lot. They call me by my middle name. And I have learned that you never judge people with preconceptions.
------Rick
I’ve noticed that alot of folks from West Texas use their middle names, as their first names, anyone know why that is ?
Please look at my post again — perhaps a bit more carefully this time...
Thank you.

Hint: We may very well have the same first name, jonrick...
