In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
kleptocracy (klep-TOK-ruh-see) noun:
A government by the corrupt in which rulers use their official positions for personal gain.
Example sentence:
"Mubarak was the leader of a brutal dictatorship and kleptocracy. He enriched himself and his family and friends at the expense of the people."
---A Trial Tyrants Will Heed; Winnipeg Free Press (Canada); Aug 4, 2011.
Etymology:
From Greek klepto-, from kleptes (thief) + -cracy (rule). Earliest documented use: 1819.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Maury Givens, our former mayor, was like a drunk left alone in a bar all night.
When accused of running a kleptocracy, he said no, he only gave the sheep a trim not a full shearing.
Sort of a “clip-tocracy” instead of a “kleptocracy”, said Maury.
Now no more Givens means No Maury givin’...to himself.

Any nude pix of me that appear on the net are a result of hacking, a la ScarJo. Seriously, why do people have naked pix of themselves on their phone or computer??

Well, if you are going to send nude pix you need to have them on your picture sending device first (phone/computer, etc)

Seriously, why do people have naked pix of themselves on their phone or computer?? Accidentally pushed the wrong button on the phone while texting/surfing on the smart phone in the bathroom? (Further proof that smart phones lead to dumb people doing dumb things.)

kleptocracy (klep-TOK-ruh-see) noun:
A government by the corrupt in which rulers use their official positions for personal gain. Which we personalize here by calling it "The Chicago Way".
Inherent corruption leads to crony capitalism which leads to full-blown kleptocracy.

Is the Postal Service in trouble b/c it's run by corrupt, self-seeking people, or is it simply a "Clifftocracy"?
