I was in Indianola, IA on Saturday to witness this phenomenon for myself. I have NEVER seen anything like it. No one was paid to be there, or organize for Palin. They are not celebrity fans, but are supporters of Palin’s policies. People sacrificed, using their own, hard-earned money to travel from all over the country, just to hear what she had to say in Indianaola. I met scores of ordinary working people, who were never previously involved in politics. People who got off the couch and will do everything it takes to convince Palin to run and see her through to victory.

I think your post may have swerved into one of the reasons Governor Palin doesn't poll well. She appeals in large measure to the folks who live their lives below the radar. The don't answer the phone if they don't recognize the number and as you said haven't been politically active. They basically want to live their lives and be left alone.
And then something changes...

“but are supporters of Palins policies”
That's the key. It's the message; not the medium.
We are excited to think our nation can be saved and renewed.
Had Barack Obama been born in a different environment (and had a 180 degree different belief system) and was delivering the same message; we would be just as excited to support him.

They are not celebrity fans, but are supporters of Palins policies. That's it in a nutshell..I don't know why that is so hard to understand for so many. They try to turn it into personality worship when it is all about policy and the truth....

That's exactly why there's the full court press by the republican intelligentsia to marginalize her once again- the people in Iowa *should* be that passionate about one of the existing candidates now! So they think.
Instead of hiding behind their Ivy League degrees and RINOism, perhaps they should be asking this question: why don't any of the existing candidates inspire the passion and support Palin does?

It was the first Tea Party event I’d been to.
I was quite inspired and impressed. No one since Jesus has been perfect, but every once and awhile God raises up a leader.
You saw it.
