A glacier is on land. When it extends out into the sea it is an ice shelf. What broke off is part of the ice shelf.

I shelfs are inherently unstable and the terminal end of the shelf always breaks off into the sea. It is then called an iceberg.

Yes, glaciers do calve icebergs. Since we are on the edge of the next ice age it’s no surprise that this glacier is producing such massive icebergs.

It find it rather amusing that these Leftists who call themselves climate scientists have discovered that icebergs melt!
