Don't like Perry? How about promoting your candidates positives?
8/27/11 | Listenhillary

Posted on 08/27/2011 7:00:28 PM PDT by listenhillary

We are adults and most on FR are very intelligent persons. I think we can decide if a candidate is right for us.

How about stop repeating the same Gardasil, Texas corridor, immigration stories over and over and over. Most have seen them by now if they have been paying attention. Most have judged the stories and condemn Perry to hell for them or they think that a president just might have different priorities than a state governor.

Screaming at us in all caps isn't going to change any minds. FR isn't the entire universe of voters. We are a very small pool of voters. If you're hell bent on trashing a candidate, it is likely that your efforts are wasted trying to persuade FR posters to change their minds about a candidate. Start standing out by the road with a sign telling your horror stories, pestering people in restaurants and buying billboards and advertising in newspapers and TV. You will have much more impact.

If you insist on cherry picking the negatives, can we do the same to you reviewing every decision and action that you have taken in your life? How would that work out for you? Honestly showing everything you have done, could you withstand the scrutiny?

I realize some of you insist that we are making a horrible mistake. The primary isn't until next year. Stop screaming. OK?

You forgot that with his state lawsuits against the federal government over Obamacare and the overreaching EPA, his actions prove his support of the 10th Amendment... and thus, state’s rights.

He’s actually done something besides talk on these. (which is more than most have done)

Amherst doesn't have a graduate program at all. Were you aware of that?

As far as my "writing sample," this is FR, not a Saturday morning taking the SAT.

Here's my point... you don't have enough information to objectively make a determination of the quality of the undergrad program of Mount Allison vs those of Texas or Texas A&M. You're operating from ingrained prejudices and emotion.

Just my opinion.

We've been over this.

If Perry loses the nomination, he's still governor. If Perry loses to Obama, he's still governor. He has NOT "quit to run for President." He's been governor 10 years now. If somehow he becomes the 45th POTUS in 2013, he'd have been TX governor a dozen years when he "quits."

It's hard to compare his 12 years on the jobs with Gov. Palin who, only two years in, was ready to "quit" to be VP or leaving when she did before her first term naturally ended.

Let's consider some context as, frankly, the field throughout spring and summer had not produced a strong GOP candidate. A few expected to run chose not to. Sarah Palin did not step up.

Perry could do nothing and see if Romney can beat Obama or he can get in.

It must frustrate those who have depended entirely on Sarah Palin entering the 2012 race ever since McCain went down in flames back in 2008.

They're still waiting and hoping. And hoping and waiting. And, with nothing positive to say or do, some of them are running down the running candidates for sport whether they have the facts on their side or not.

Right! "Holy Diver!" "Last in Line!" "Rock and Roll Children!"

You really are a professional idiot!

Hey, Sal! Did you know Dio was "Hip Hop?"

Oh boy. Okay. Here’s a link to Amherst’s grad schools, plural. Me thinks it’s you who are unable to “objectively make a determination....operating from ingrained prejudices and emotion.” https://www.amherst.edu/campuslife/careers/students/gradstudy/grad_school

I guess you are different. You're a different species of idiot.

You're really getting boring.

Why is Gardasil a sticking point for you?

Public schools require vaccinations of children before they can enroll in school. In he past, the smallpox vaccination was mandatory. Now, measles-mumps-rubella is one example.

So, really... a mandatory vaccination is a mandatory vaccination. Why aren't you screaming to the winds about all our candidates and their support for mandatory vaccinations. After all, silence on an issue is tacit support of an issue.

Or are some mandatory vaccinations more acceptable than others?

Measels/Mumps/Rubella are completely different from HPV. They're not spread the same way. Besides, if you want to respond to my post, comment on the number of deaths and illnesses caused by the HPV vaccine.

How does a drug (Thaliminide) have anything to do with a vaccination? Drugs are chemicals that metabolize in the body in certain ways.

Vaccines are either weakened-but-live diseases/viruses... or dead versions that the body's immune system fights off, thus teaching the immune system how to fight off the real deal if/when it comes.

So how is Thaliminide even relevant?

I'm not sure I'm looking forward to the all the "fun", but maybe I'll try to have your positive outlook on things, and perhaps that will help. :-)

A positive attitude let's you make your own luck when there's none to be had elsewhere. ;-)

And it is fun. Well, it's fun for me, anyway. Nothing we do here really changes anything, but it's interesting to see how people think.

I try arguing with folks every now and then. Educating, really. It's like tossing little white crystalline balls of shelled mollusk produced calcium carbonate before a sounder of Sus Scrofa Domesticus. Most of the cranks around here simply aren't in my league, as far as holding up their end of a serious debate. Usually it ends with them reduced to inarticulate frustration, tears, ad hominems or inarticulate, frustrated, tearful ad hominems.

They usually learn something from the experience. Sadly, it's generally little more then "Don't argue with Steel Wolf."

Hello???

TX Gov. Rick Perry said his Exec. Order on HPV vaccine for girls was because of his PRO-LIFE stance (WTF?! Is he serious?!)

Those 3 are the real conservatives in this race. Do not be fooled.

How do you know? You're taking it on faith.

I notice you dismiss Santorum outright but he's got a clearer record than some you hold up as "the real conservatives."

Cain's got a business record but there's no record on immigration and all these other issues to tear apart and examine. He's also got an obvious knowledge gap as we saw on the "right of return."

You don't seem the least bit troubled by Bachmann's exaggerations, missteps or inability to get an agenda moved forward. She says "never raise the debt ceiling" and signed a pledge to do the exact opposite. She's promising things like gas under $2 that only happened because of a financial meltdown. She's never explained taking farm subsidies or the farm income she denied getting but declared on her financial disclosure forms.

No one has explained her husband's degree from a school that wasn't offering that degree when he was there. She's talked about starting a charter school but leaves out that was promptly removed for trying to make that public school into a religious one. She's moved no major House legislation forward and uses as her one example an education bill when she was in the State Senate.

For all we know about Sarah Palin, we don't have a deep record to go on there either. With immigration, for example, we have her support for McCain's amnesty plans which she gets a pass on yet hasn't walked away from even last year. She's supported McCain in 2010 against the Tea Party candidate. She supported the reviled repugnant RINO Rick Perry in 2010 as well. She gets a pass. Delaying entry, missing debate after debate? She gets a pass.

With Romney we have a clear record of being everywhere on nearly everything. With Perry we have a huge long record with some bad stuff (as with Reagan too) which people are magnifying while ignoring any positives.

Do not fall into the trap Democrats did with Obama of taking on faith who and what the candidate was without a thorough review of their record. By the same token, don't hold it against a candidate because he or she has more experience and actually has a record for examination on an issue.
