Don't like Perry? How about promoting your candidates positives?

We are adults and most on FR are very intelligent persons. I think we can decide if a candidate is right for us.

How about stop repeating the same Gardasil, Texas corridor, immigration stories over and over and over. Most have seen them by now if they have been paying attention. Most have judged the stories and condemn Perry to hell for them or they think that a president just might have different priorities than a state governor.

Screaming at us in all caps isn't going to change any minds. FR isn't the entire universe of voters. We are a very small pool of voters. If you're hell bent on trashing a candidate, it is likely that your efforts are wasted trying to persuade FR posters to change their minds about a candidate. Start standing out by the road with a sign telling your horror stories, pestering people in restaurants and buying billboards and advertising in newspapers and TV. You will have much more impact.

If you insist on cherry picking the negatives, can we do the same to you reviewing every decision and action that you have taken in your life? How would that work out for you? Honestly showing everything you have done, could you withstand the scrutiny?

I realize some of you insist that we are making a horrible mistake. The primary isn't until next year. Stop screaming. OK?

Governor speaks to La Raza

Gov. Rick Perry sounded some familiar themes in a speech today at the National Council of La Raza conference in San Antonio.

Some of the governor's remarks were aimed at appealing to nearly 2,000 audience members who sat waiting to hear about his positions on immigration reform, Arizona's controversial law and raising the quality of life for Latinos.

After hitting his typical points by touting job creation and the state's economic standing, Perry briefly touched on the new Arizona law that has been criticized by some who say it encourages racial profiling and discrimination.

He said the law "may be right for Arizona but it ain't exactly right for Texas."

The comment drew applause from attendees though Perry did not specifically say what part of the law was not "exactly right" for the state. He also did not make any promises to veto similar legislation in the state.

Perry repeated his criticism of the federal government's approach to border security. He said Texas has invested in keeping its residents safe from spillover violence because the federal government failed in its duty.

And, he said, the federal government's failure to secure the border is the reason states like Arizona have taken on immigration policy.

"Until America secures the border, a rational debate on immigration policy is not going to happen," Perry said

The governor talked about the state's business climate and economic achievements in recent years, and he seemed to take a jab at his Democratic opponent Bill White.

"This isn't rocket science," Perry said. "When it comes to keeping this state going and keeping the economy of Texas happening, you don't have to have a degree in economics or a degree in public policy from, what is it, Harvard."

White, who will speak to the group Monday, graduated from Harvard University with a degree in economics before earning his law degree at the University of Texas at Austin.

Not many people paying much attention to the Palin threads these days. That would probably change if she entered the race.

you forgot being in bed, or seeking the favor of the Globalists, which long term would lead to a bigger crime against this country. There are some interesting articles in this direction as well. Rick would have no restraint as president (unlike in Texas), we are seeing this with our current dictator and his executive orders. I truly pray that the 2012 election happens, as the balance of power with the 3 branches has been all but destroyed!

Just my 2 cents.

He’s undefeated in over two decades. That’s not falling “ass backwards” into anything. And for what it’s worth, he has been a heck of a lot better governor that Bush every thought about being.

So THAT'S why a Perry supporter posted an insult to Sarah Palin in the initial comments of a pro Perry thread.

I guess that's what you gotta do to get your message out.

Thanks for clearing that up, buddy!

I want Sarah Palin. She is far more conservative on the issues, has no fear of Obama, the Dems or MSM and has long held positions that do not change with the wind.

She isn’t into stripping parental rights - A positive
She isn’t into Gorean policies - A positive
She is fiscally conservative - A positive
She is Pro drill/mining - a positive
She owes the GOP nothing - a positive...

Need I go on?

He does have issues. They all do. I have addressed these issues repeatedly since he announced. If you are actually interested in my addresses, check my “in forum.” I’m not going to retype it all again to people who really don’t want to know the truth.

I don’t know much about Perry.

Then please read on.

It’s kind of disturbing seeing someone to tell people to put aside their criticisms of someone, as if they should put aside their core beliefs and principles.

Apparently, that is what we are expected to do. Note that you have already received a response from a Perry supporter. In light of that you should see the other side of Rick Perry.

"I think there is a path to citizenship for those young men and women ILLEGAL ALIENS who have served their country," Perry said.

THEIR COUNTRY?! Perry thinks America is THEIR COUNTRY?!
Perry wants to give ILLEGAL aliens citizenship

In 2001, Perry signed into law the very first Texas “Dream ACT.” It allowed the children of illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition at any Texas university. Perry defended the Texas “Dream ACT,” saying, “To punish these young Texans for their parents' actions is not what America has always been about.”

Perry then jetted off to Mexico and bragged to the Mexicans that Texas passed this law, saying, “The message is simple, educacion es el futuro, y si se puede.” Education is the future, and yes we can.
Rick Perry’s immigration problem

The number of illegal immigrant college students paying in-state tuition and receiving financial aid at Texas' public colleges and universities continues to climb, according to state higher education records.
Number of illegal immigrants getting in-state tuition for Texas colleges rises

In February 2007, Perry signed a shocking executive order forcing every sixth-grade girl to submit to a three-jab regimen of the Gardasil vaccine. He also forced state health officials to make the vaccine available "free" to girls ages 9 to 18. The drug, promoted by manufacturer Merck as an effective shield against the sexually transmitted human papillomavirus (HPV) and genital warts, as well as cervical cancer, had only been approved by the Food and Drug Administration eight months prior to Perry's edict.

Perry defenders pointed to a bogus "opt-out" provision in his mandate "to protect the right of parents to be the final authority on their children's health care." But requiring parents to seek the government's permission to keep an untested drug out of their kids' veins is a plain usurpation of their authority. Translation: Ask your bureaucratic overlord to determine if a Gardasil waiver is right for you.

Libertarians and social conservatives alike slammed Perry's reckless disregard for parental rights and individual liberty. The Republican-dominated legislature also balked. In May 2007, both chambers passed bills overturning the governor's unilaterally imposed health order.
Perry's vaccine order exposed lapse in political, policy judgments Rick Perry’s Superficial Extremism The Texas governor’s record doesn’t live up to his rhetoric.

“The Gardasil debacle is just one of many concerns a wide range of grass-roots conservative activists have about Perry’s record as governor. He’s soft on illegal immigration despite a few recent nods to border enforcement. He’s prone to crony capitalism. And as the vaccine mandate scandal shows, he demonstrated Nanny State tendencies that are anathema to Tea Party core principles.

Once again, the Perry campaign proves my point about the non-walkback-walkback. If Perry “erred on the side of life,” what his campaign continues to suggest is that those who opposed his Gardasil mandate from the beginning chose death. Instead of renouncing the human shield demagoguery he engaged it after the repeal, the Perry campaign has doubled-down. There is nothing — nothing — Tea Party about this.

The Gardasil debacle is a useful red flag on Perry’s basic political instincts, judgment, core values, and trust. It is no surprise — given his ties to Merck — that Perry is a consummate practitioner of corporate welfare “public-private partnerships.
Plumbing the rest of the Perry record

Perry’s campaign website lists the Trans-Texas Corridor as one of his accomplishments. But is it something Perry really wants broadcast as an achievement? The Texas Republican Party’s 2010 platform includes a plank specifically opposing the Trans-Texas Corridor.
Rick Perry's NAFTA Superhighway Problem

That’s why I am also excited that Texas Secretary of State Henry Cuellar is working on an initiative that could extend the benefits of telemedicine to individuals living on the Mexican side of the border.

“............But none of these people compares with Perry, who has had no goal all his adult life but to be a career politician, angling and maneuvering, planting his allies in appointed positions, and building a power base. For all his “conservative” posturing, Perry is the model of the personality type which has led this nation into its present crisis. He is a phony. I’ve been around a long time; I recognize the type.”

Good post. Right on the mark.
