CHICAGO (AP) - More than 5,000 U.S. children and teens are injured each year in falls from windows, according to a study that suggests the problem stretches beyond urban high-rises. The research found many children fall from first- and second-story windows.
"This is more than just a big-city problem," said senior author Dr. Gary Smith of Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
Suburban mother, Beth Harlan, knows that to be true.

look at the architecture in the house behind. must have been a beautiful area back in the day.
Yes, in a high-rise.
Oh, boogers, I hate when someone blesses my heart.
They need to post signs: Watch for Falling Kids
It’s irresponsible for cities not to do so.

Yes, from a New York highrise, must of been 12-15 years ago, Clapton wrote a song in tribute to his young son.
Outlaw windows! Where’s Ralph Nader when you need him? Let’s see, 5000 injured in falls from windows . . . probably 60,000,000 NOT injured from windows . . . 0.008% injured . . . we need a government agency in a helluva hurry to look into this.

we need comprehensive window reform. we must fix this broken system, bend the “plummet to your death” curve up, and break the hold of the evil window companies that hold us all hostage.
oh, but if you like your old window, you can keep it.
Oh this is out of control! It’s chaos! The Federal Government must immediately address this crisis. It’s time for window control. For the kids darn it, for the kids!
that’s gonna be damned inconvenient if there is ever a fire, but it’s a small price to pay!!
maybe sebelius will grant waivers to people with windows that qualify.
The federal government needs to ban children or windows. It is the only responsible thing to do.
I fell out of a second story window when I was 18 mos old. Mom was ironing clothes, and went to hand some up. I had crawled up into the window and leaned into the screen. She says that one second i was crawling around on the bed, the next second I was gone.
Because it comes with an unspoken “she can’t help it?”
Also, we need Federal window registration with a NCICS background check everytime a window is sold.
Also, we need a 5 day waiting period for windows!
Windows Czar to control them.
