A little background: my father, who recently passed away, had three of these stored with some silver rounds, so I tend to believe they have some value. However, no one I've asked, including a coin shop, has any idea.
Description: Square piece of an unknown metal mesh glued to each side of a piece of plastic.

Is the mesh made out of silver? If so, pour some hydrogen peroxide on it and see what happens! LOL!

Does the plastic run contiguously between the two pieces of mesh or just around the outsides?

We've been looking for those. We will arrive at your home shortly. By the way, there are four of them. We suggest you find the fourth one before we arrive.

It looks like a drywall repair patch. It glues to a place where you have a hole in the wall, and the mesh holds putty.

This is from the flyswatter that killed the golden fly. A closer picture might yield more accurate answers.

That looks a lot like an ozone plate to an Alpine air purifier.

Is it glued, or melted into the plastic?

Unless the unknown metal is Gold I would guess the are vent or speaker covers for something. I have seen some old tube radios with covers sorta kinda like that.

Maybe it’s a strainer for the beer or wine dregs for the home brewers.
