After reading Wikipedia, I think Colorado would have been safer.

There was a well documented bull shark caught near Cairo, IL back in the 20's or 30's. Theoretically, the current lock system on the Mississippi would now make such a thing impossible, but they're here in Louisiana they still get pretty far up the Atchafalaya basin, and are known to frequent Lake Pontchartrain.

Last year, an 8-footer made its way up the Potomac...
