Saw a big one the other night in northern Nevada. Great time of year for sky-watching.

I’m amazed at how clear the sky is 12 miles west of Las Vegas. In moonlight, the desert looks like daylight with stars in the sky, if exposed properly. Meteors are a bonus, but I doubt I’ll capture any this Thursday night.

But sky watchers beware: You will be facing a major obstacle in your attempt to observe this year’s Perseid performance, namely, the moon.

Isn't it about time that somebody got rid of that sucker so that we can all enjoy the view?
