I think we are assuming it was an RPG
As I was typing "IEG" I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it stood for but I thought it had to be right.......Yikes! I think I'm getting senile..........

Been a long time since I thought of all those 'mysterous' deaths.
Yet They all just go along their merry way prosecuting and persecuting the little people.
It's too true not to be black comedy.

Thank you for being a voice of reason.
Lucky shots happen in war. If a button is pressed a split second later, USS Arizona does not blow up. An E-Boat patrol route is changed and Exercise Tiger is not a disaster. A rebel sniper is more careful and Stonewall Jackson survives the Civil War.
Bad things happen, it's part of life. Not a conspiracy.

I am well aware of that fact, that's not the question. Why do you care and who appointed you to be a grammar policeman? Nobody did, you just, for some reason delight in trying to make other freepers feel bad. What kind of person does that? and why? Does it make you feel big and bad?
What if some Freepers didn't finish high school, let alone go to college? Maybe they had to work to support their family. Do you think they need you on here pointing out every little grammatical error, making them feel bad, pointing out their shortcomings? Shame on you and by the way.....

"btw..did you notice that Karzai was making all the initial announcements about this? Why?" I hadn't noticed that. Karzai is a squirrelly bastage. I bet he's trying to curry favor with the taliban by announcing this coup for them. He hopes to keep breathing for 5 extra minutes after we leave.

Not "spam" ...
Not "goofy tripe" ...
It's just a "Theory that Happens to fit the Facts" ... as Spock once stated in Star Trek ...
It's a tragedy that "We The People" have SO LITTLE confidence in our President that his intelligence, patriotism, and INTEGRITY (or rather the appalling leack of it) leaves his actions, decisions and policies HIGHLY SUSPECT ...
My only regret is that there weren't 23 Free Republic threads discussing this event ... instead of the 22 that I "deliberately" posted to ...
Questions ?

Thank you for being a voice of reason. I’ve read two very good books recently about this war:
1. “The Only Thing Worth Dying For”
2. “Lone Survivor”
Marcus Luttrell’s “Lone Survivor” (SEAL Team 1) specifically calls out the fact that the Taliban they were engaged with set up ambushes for the helicopters they were sure would come. Just like the Viet Cong knew helos were inbound when the Americans were in trouble, the Taliban know the same thing and they prepare for it.
“The Only Thing Worth Dying For” written by Special Forces vets states repeatedly that Taliban always fire at any helicopter in range...always. They learned that from fighting the Russians. BTW - the Specials Forces responsible for Karzai’s safety during the early stages of the war held him in the highest regard, and they would know him better than anyone else.
Could one of the Afghans on board have sabotaged the mission? Sure. Could the Taliban have lucked out with an RPG at night? Sure. Could the CH-47 have suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure? Sure. I plan on waiting for the facts to come in and will mourn these heroes in the meantime.
To: SpitfyrAce
My apologies - Marcu Luttrell was in SEAL Team 10 - not 1
To: SpitfyrAce
Currently the story is that they were finished with the mission and were returning when they were hit, the Airborne Rangers then secured the crash site.
It sounds like it was brought down with an RPG.

Did you have a premonition? Sometimes I have them, but they don’t make sense until after the fact. It is disconcerting to say the least, plus I am absolutely at a loss to have any affect on any of the situations. Quix can back me up on the one I had, when I emailed him about “ explosion, Thailand” a number of years ago and then it happened the next day I believe. Well “assassinations” and I blew it off and thought maybe “assassination” popped into my head a couple of nights ago. For what it is worth.

Check out # 176 for quickquiver's premonition.
Thanks for the ping, quickquiver. Interesting.
