As the July sun sets over a Shropshire smallholding, sheep graze quietly in the fields, horses doze contentedly in their stables, and hawks circle majestically in the skies above.
This rural scene is like something out of a painting by Turner or Constable, but suddenly it erupts into chaos more reminiscent of the Keystone Kops.
Around the corner of a barn appear 16 frisky dalmatian puppies, tumbling and scampering in every direction as they are pursued by their owner, 21-year-old Becky Elvins.
As quickly as she can scoop them up and place them in their large wicker basket, they spill out again, darting between her legs, nipping at her wellingtons and endlessly disappearing and reappearing in a polka-dot whirl. I feel exhausted just watching the bedtime bedlam which has been part of Becky's routine for the past seven weeks. As a trainee teacher, she spends her day handling classes of primary school children but that's nothing compared to looking after this brood, born to her much-loved dalmatian Milly at the end of May.

So very cute, thank you!
Spay and neuter your pets please.
I had a litter of German Shorthaired Pointer puppies born in Jan. I was thrilled to receive pictures of one of the puppies today from her new owners.
While a lot of work, they were soooo much fun.
Just don’t give any of the pups to Miss Cuella DeVille...
Super adorable!!!
This is not careless breeding, or allowing her dog to “whore” about. She does NOT need to spay her dog until she wishes to.
I’d rather spay or neuter liberals.
I owned Dalmations for years. They are beautiful dogs, very loyal to their masters for sure. But, they do not make good family pets.
They are very hyper and need a lot of attention and time. you cannot just stick them in the back yard. You have to walk and intertact with them everyday. They love to be in the company of their owners, I mean really part of the family unit. If you do not do this, they will rip your place apart.
They are clowns. I loved my harley and sparky. They have a predispostion for Urinary tract problems. harley developed a severe case of kidney stones and had to have them removed. The best diet for dalmations is a very low protien diet less than 12% protien. He never had any problems after that.
Awwww
so cute
dig the little one 3rd from left on the bottom
I still miss my dalmatian domino
Cute!
When my daughter lived in NJ she had a rescue mutt named Chi Chi — part Beagle, part Doxy, and part Lab. He was a small dog with a lot of issues. He didn’t get along with other dogs at all, and my daughter kept him away from them. He liked to sit in the front window and bark like crazy at every dog who came by.
The “across the street neighbors” bought a Dalmation puppy who was also aggressive. One day Pepper (the Dalmation) slipped his leash and darted right inside my daughter’s front door and attacked Chi Chi. Sixty stitches later, Chi Chi came home from the vet and Pepper went to live out in the country. Pepper’s owners paid half of the vet bill.
My daughter felt terrible for both dogs. Chi Chi ended his days as a raving, lunatic dog. Even though he already had issues, he never recovered in his head from the attack in his own family room.
I should add that Chi Chi had flunked obedience twice. Most rescue dogs are wonderful pets. Chi Chi wasn’t, but his family loved him anyway. But, they were sorry that the fight caused Pepper to go live in the country.
It makes you wonder what they are saying when dogs bark and bark? Obviously these two had had an on-going conversation that wasn’t civil.
“The rest of the puppies have been put up for sale. The four bitches command more for their breeding potential and have already been sold for £600 each. The dogs cost less, at £550 each”
First, when the “product” is going for prices like that, the story isn’t going to end well. Second, its the taxpayers who pick up the bill with regards to consequences i.e. strain on municipal services, overflowing shelters- NOT the businesswoman (which frankly is what she should be identified as rather than some sort of dog lover). Third there are plenty of dalmations facing euthenasia who need loving homes. If this woman truly cared about dogs she’d work on reducing that number rather than breeding.
There was a reason I stopped watching Price is Right years ago.
Hey Bob. Bob Barker: Mind your own business you far left wing control freak!
If I want to breed my dog, I will. If I want to spay or neuter my pet I will. It’s NONE of your business what I do with MY property, especially since it has NO effect on anything you do, say, own or interact with.
This story is about a responsible breeder and an unusually large but healthy and desirable litter of purebred dogs.
Your comment belongs with PeTA, HSUS or DU, not here on a site that supports private property rights, personal freedoms, and liberty.
The problem is not the well-bred dogs, although I am into performance sports rather than conformation. The problem is puppy mills, not hobby/sport breeders, who may have two litters from a bitch before spaying her and placing her in her retirement home. Reputable breeders have limited registration, neuter-spay agreements, buyback provisions, and interview prospective buyers and check up on their pups from time to time. I'm still in contact with the breeder of my 11 year old chocolate Lab, who has a wall full of obedience, agility, and retrieving ribbons, perfect health, and a great temperament. You're unlikely to get that sort of quality at random.
And nobody makes money on hobby breeding -- you get bragging rights, and you get some of your money back by selling the pups.
It does make you wonder what they’re “yelling” at each other, doesn’t it?
It was a dalmation that attacked my mom finally as she would walk the road every day for exercise. I think he just couldn’t stand it any more, tho she would cross the road to try to avoid his territory. Looked like a huge vampire had sunk his fangs into her thigh, with lots of peripheral bruising.
After, sho told the owners that if she so much as saw the dog again from the road, she’d sue for all they were worth & then some. They destroyed it.
