hmmmm......that’s nice
Wahooo! THAT’s what US spirit is all about!
One of the most thrilling games I have ever seen in any sport
USA beats Brazil...at what? Were we at war with Brazil too?
A classic. One of the best soccer games ever. The US overcame a terrible call and played the last 55 minutes a man short against one of the best teams on the planet. And they scored in the last minute of extra time to tie the game and eventually win in a shootout. Courage and a fighting spirit to make any American proud. Let’s hope they complete the script and win it all.
Outstanding effort by the USA, it didn’t look like they would defeat Brazil.
Guttiest win I have seen in years — being down one player with nearly 40 minutes remaining in regulation, and then coming back to win it — great job ladies!!
Brazil immediately declares war.
I was screaming bad words at the Erika person for Brazil (she’s the one who faked an injury late in the game). Thats why alot of people dont think soccer is on the up-and-up. I am so glad USA won. Now they play france on wednesday.
Pia Sundage, a Swede if I heard correctly, said that this team shows an “American Attitude”. Yeah, an attitude of a**-kicking and never giving up!
PS: Hope Solo was a goddess on the field today with her anger and confidence. She had an aura about her during those PK’s, an aura of anger and confidence. Amazing.
what a game...the US goalie is gorgeous....
USA
You weren’t the only one. When we saw her literally WALK AROUND AND DECIDE TO COLLAPSE, my friends and I started screaming things that would make a sailor blush. When she got off the stretcher and ran back in the game is when we started wishing horrible things on her ancestors.
Screw Brazil.
Got any pictures to prove it?
:)
The US played more than half the game a player down.
The refs were horrible.
Kind of ironic that the equalizer was because of a faked injury by the Brazilian player who as they were taking her off the field on a stretcher, leaped off the stretcher and returned to the sideline, where she returned to play within a minute.
Yeah that Brazilian health care must be pretty good. Heals a ailing soccer player.
I actually felt sorry for Brazil early on. The USA was getting away with murder. One one play, so far as I could see from the replays, a Brazilian girl barely touched a USA player (who tumbled down and looked like she was going to die) and the ref gave two yellows, one to the "fouler" and another to someone (Marta?) who complained. I really thought that FIFA must have told the refs that a USA win would be good for women's soccer.
But then it all turned, didn't it!
I was NOT impressed by the USA play except for the keeper, who looked to me like she could play with the boys. The number of times balls spun off a USA defender's feet inside the box was disgraceful. (Japan's defense yesterday looked quite competent I thought.)
But horse races at Suffolk Downs can be quite exciting, and this game was that and more.
