Prince Albert of Monaco has been forced to issue a public statement after claims that his fiancée tried to leave him days before their wedding after learning of his third illegitimate child.
The royal family dismissed reports that Charlene Wittstock had tried to flee to South Africa, where she grew up.
The claims appear to have originated in the French news magazine L'Express.
In an article headlined Albert-Charlene: Marriage in Peril and published on its website, the magazine claimed Miss Wittstock, a former Olympic swimmer, had been upset to hear a new revelation about her future husband.
A lawyer for Prince Albert vigorously denied the claims, described the story as madness and added: Everything is false.
The allegations emerged just two days before the three-day celebrations for the wedding are to start. They are expected to cost around £50million.
The guest list includes Naomi Campbell, the model, the businessman Philip Green, Richard Branson, the entrepreneur, and Giorgio Armani, the fashion designer.
Dozens of royal guests will also attend, including the Earl and Countess of Wessex.
A statement from the palace said: The Prince's Palace firmly denies the allegations.
These rumours, spread a few days before the wedding ceremonies of His Serene Highness Prince Albert and Miss Charlene Wittstock, have only one purpose - to seriously damage the Sovereign's image and by consequence that of Miss Wittstock and to cause serious prejudice to a happy event.
Prince Albert's lawyer, Thierry Lacoste, confirmed he would be taking legal action against the French publication and added: I was with the Prince and Charlene Wittstock in Paris three days ago, and I can promise you that all is well.

“What’s a Jack Chick tract?”
Excellent question. Nowadays one just says to google the websire, but at one time Jack Chick was a publisher of religious tracts (miniature pamphlets) which told Biblically based stories in comic-book format. He did so from an Evengelical viewpoint but didn’t attack other denominations.
But in his later years (he is a recluse who refuses to be interviewed) Jack Chick has become rabidly anti-Catholic. His tracts are rants, ranging from referring to the Catholic holy communion wafers as “death cookies” to asserting that Islam itself was created by the Vatican!
In other words, a whacked-out fundamentalist nutjob. And I wish to make clear that as a Catholic I embrace many aspects of Evangelical practice, especially Bible study, belief in the End Times, and a direct personal relationship with G-d that doesn’t require priestly intercession.
Jack Chick is laughable. And so is the guy who posted earlier denouncing the apparition at Fatima (provoked by an old photo of the three children who saw the first one; the third apparition was witnessed by thousands).
FWIW, do NOT, even with SafeSearch on its highest setting, Google “Prince Albert” Images. Yuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually we do, they're called "The Kennedys."
Mama ain't happy,
Ain't nobody happy.
Or, conversely,
No woman, no cry.
"Toned arms" are in right now.
Awesome smackdown!
(As my grandmother used to say, "The Lord don't look at yer clothes when you go to church!")
Let's not forget that the original remarks were probably in French. At worst, it's probably a literal translation. The French and Monagasques don't have the same little figures of speech about having babies that we do.
Well by that I also meant the royal title as well, Prince Theodore/John Fitzgerald Kennedy, stuff like that.
But how they acted, I surely see what you mean.
Thank you for the information...I may have seen some of those as a youth. I come from a bible-thumper family, Southern Baptists. (I always get a grin from folks when I refer to myself that way).
Anyway, I have attended Mass several times, at the behest of my girl friends.
I don’t see any point in taking cheap shots at other peoples’ denominations..we are all Christians.
Good point! They probably don’t say “we have a bun in the oven” either...one of the more crude Americanisms when one is “in a family way” (to use a nicer expression)!
Would you please take me off the list of people you send this to?
‘Rolalty’ just doesn’t interest me.
Thanks
SPANISH ROYALS SNUB AL & CHARLENE’S WEDDING?
Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia of Spain NOT going to the Princely Wedding in Monaco?
Everyone assumed they would represent King Juan Carlos in Monaco this weekend, but the surprising news that the Prince and Princess are not going to the wedding of Prince Albert II and his South African bride broke earlier today.
This morning, the Kings Household announced that the invitation was sent to the King, and as hes recovering from his knee operation(and doesnt attend weddings of non family members anyway) hes not attending and isnt sending the Prince and Princess of Asturias instead. They wouldnt confirm if one of his daughters would represent the Spanish Royal Family, and its been speculated whether infanta Pilar, as a fellow IOC member will be invited in a personal capacity.
Princess Grace with husband Prince Rainier and their children, Princesses Caroline and Stephanie and Prince Albert...
Thanks, Dr S for posting the beautiful family photo
You’re very welcome...
Ha ha! I had forgotten about her. She was a whole hatful of crazy, that one.
She looks like a swimmer. Even female swimmers have shoulders like that.
