Japanese is cool to learn. Choice of different alphabets.

I pray for your quick return to full health. As for learning a language, that is a great idea. I would chose Arabic (I know kitchen Arabic) over Spanish (I speak fluently). I suppose I choose conversational Arabic because it is the harder language and should take the full eight months of your recuperation. In the end, it will be a major accomplishment when you can use it. Plus, we need more Arabic speakers in the USA. Good luck.

I’m really sorry you have to go through this, but you’ll do fine. It’s really hard to be in situation where you don’t feel in ‘control’, but there is someone looking out for you when you can’t do it yourself.

You know, this might be an opportunity for you to help a lot of people. Seriously. No doctor, no nurse, no person knows what it’s like to go through all of the emotions and have all the thoughts and soul searching that going through a major life event like this brings, unless they’ve gone through it themselves. Your experience will be unique to you. If you can, try to put what you’re feeling and experiencing in your life onto paper (or hard drive) over the next weeks and months. As you get through all of this and get your life back, you will be able to enlighten and encourage, through what you’ve written, others who will go through something similar in the future. Just a thought.

Good luck. Prayers sent.

BTW...Rosetta Stone is a great idea, also look into an Ipad with a Kindle account - get some reading in, there are so few times in our life when we have time to read. Keep a journal...maybe you should write about your experiences and perspectives.

God’s grace is sufficient. That’s a promise. From God.

Wow...Prayers for you, and for the medical personnel taking care of you

Since we are in such trying times....maybe a local political (right) group could use some support in managing lists or something....Don’t know if you have family, or your age, but like someone else said, organizing pictures, papers, etc could be valuable to them....learning another language? Would you be able to put it to use later?

Rosetta Stone is fantastic - you will be speaking a new language very soon. Good Luck - my healing prayers go out to you.

Prayers up for you. I am having my own health issues, and may post a prayer request myself soon. Good thoughts coming your way. May I suggest a Pimsler Language program? I really enjoyed the conversational Italian.

Like others said, knitting is cool. Also maybe, playing some musical instrument — harmonica, flute, tin-whistle. Get some video game skills — tetris, word games, number or pattern games all excellent for mental health, focus, coordination.

You sure about that? I don’t know of any post-surgical condition that requires 8 months confined to a bed.

Our prayers. The language option should be fun. Spanish is spoken in more places you can actually go to. ;-)

Cowgirl,
Peace to you this night. The hours before surgery are trying.

Please keep a recovery journal. Write in it something positive about your recovery daily. On days that are tougher than others, read it and look back at how far you have come.

Feel free to freepmail me for some encouragement! I’m here a lot so lobe looking!

Take care.

Prayers for your surgery. I wouldn’t plan to far ahead...just enjoy waking up in the morning and doing a little internet surfing. Maybe you can be a blog warrior for conservatives the next 8 mos! Drive liberals nuts and post lots of long information packed posts to counter their “crazy”. Just get some rest tonight and know that God is near and loves you.

your local public library might have books online to read (netlibrary) or books you can download to listen to or read (nook, sony, etc).

Ever read the Francine Rivers 3 book series Mark of the Lion? A Voice in the wind, An Echo in the Darkness and As Sure as the Dawn. The second best series I have ever read. Interesting enough, in one of books a woman is bedridden, but cannot talk. Instead of getting angry she realizes God wanted her to pray. She pray what seems the impossible. We are living in a time when things can seem impossible. Good time to pray for revival; our nation; the elections.... Keep your laptop handy, Freepers will keep you busy. You'll be in our prayers.
