“And as for sickness, which is more so: being happy that a shiny new leading-edge product has arrived, or passionately bashing it? So we like our toys; why do you feel compelled to insult them?”

LOL, most perceived Apple bashing by you and the other iFans is making light of the fact that everytime Apple releases something, you guys are right there without fail hyping it up. What Apple THRIVES on is hype and the drooling from its followers. Steve Jobs could take a crap in a box and iFans would be right there to pay $500 bucks for it and brag about how it’s the best crap ever.

Hate to tell you, but I’ve owned 2 different iPhones and still own several different models of iPods, so your labeling people as bashers is way off base.

“(to wit: what percentage of Android users wouldn’t notice a difference if it was running anything else, or practically no serious OS at all?”

Why don’t you answer the question...I could just as easy turn this around on you and replace Android with iOS. Apparently you think it’s an accident that over 30% of smartphones out there are running Android? LOL, sure. It’s a riduculous question.

Yup, that’s why Samsung is 15th on this list. Seems I’ve got to scroll down quite a bit before I see Apple. What number are they?

I wonder how many Apple users realize that none of the core infrastructure at that datacenter is from Apple? It’s all from one or more of those “other” manufacturers who’s hardware they love to bash as cheap and unreliable compared to their Mac.

I’m getting a good laugh about all this. I’ve been enjoying Google Cloud-based music on my Droid X for a month now. Send it to the cloud and its now on all my computers and phone. Oh, and the ‘lie’ about no deals with music labels? Yeah, I have a ton of featured content in my cloud based on my music preference, in addition to the songs I uploaded (all ripped from CDs).

Hey, but did you hear about the “revolutionary” iCloud? Our lives will never be the same again. All of Apple’s competition might as well quit and kneel at the Alter of Jobs.

You’re obviously just a hater.

LOL. Yeah, I've heard it all- use Apple, Microsoft, Droid, etc. and I'm a realist. Apple ain't all that. All platforms have their advantages/disadvantages. I prefer my Android simply because I can customize the heck out of it. And from an interface standpoint, Android platforms, specifically the tablet OpSys, are superior in their interface, usability and customization.

If you want simple, get an iPad/iPhone. If you want to truly customize your experience & feature set, get a droid-based one.

Two entirely different markets and mindsets.

Agree completely. But good luck explaining that to the iFans. They’ve got their heads so far up Jobs’ butt that they can’t hear anything and can’t understand what appeal there is in Android or anything else. Ah, the simple life...when Steve has you in his warm embrace and whispers sweet nothings in your ear, assuring you that you don’t need anything that’s not Apple, and anything done or spoken that isn’t Apple is blasphemy.

Another claim... late in the discussion from the Apple basher... of "I own the (insert Apple product here), so I can bash with impunity!" I simply DON'T believe you... especially with your pushing Android so vociferously. It just doesn't ring true! I've seen it too many times and too much of what you've said comes off as a typical non-Apple user.

Fine, don’t. I could really careless if you don’t believe me. What do you want me to do? Post a friggin’ picture of them for ya?

My PC just updated to iTunes 10.3 today. Now try to explain away how it is I have iTunes installed on a PC if I didn’t own any Apple products?

Wikipedia Chart:
109 Apple Inc. Electronics $65.225[123] September 25, 2010 ((Market Cap) $189,802 (billion) - NASDAQ: AAPL Cupertino, California, United States Steve Jobs

Apple's ACTUAL market cap, as of 06/07/2011: $307.06 Billion source Yahoo Finance.

We were talking about CELL PHONE PROFITS, not profits of a conglomerate in total that manufactures everything including earthmoving equipment and sea going cargo ships! Samsung's phone division is barely making a profit in phones overall and just breaking even money in the smartphone market! Here is a chart showing the last quarter overall results of PROFITS (the large orange box is Apple's 57% share of the entire cell phone market profits!) with only Apple, RIM, and HTC accounting for 75% of the profits...

Actually, we were talking about other manufacturers being jealous of Apples profits. I’m thinking that Samsung’s CEO isn’t going to be looking to trade places with Jobs anytime soon.

And don’t be jealous that Samsung is a much broader company and can do more than just make iProducts. LOL

Speaking of phones though, Apple currently has no answer to the Galaxy S II. None. That phone can run circles around the IP4.

If you own Apple iPods, and iPhones, and so dislike Apple, my sincere recommendation for you is to immediately put them up for sale on eBay or Craig's List and buy an Android Phone and generic MP3 players and delete iTunes immediately from your computer. You'll be much happier.

I have a few gripes with Apple but still get plenty of use out of the Apple products I do own. My real disdain is for the iFans who constantly come off as paid salesmen anointed by Steve Jobs himself. So if the shoe fits...

I already own an Android phone. Made the switch after owning a 3G and 3GS. Still on contract, so won’t be getting a new one for a little while.

I don't think Apple is too worried.

Samsung announced last week they had sold one million through to carriers—but not sold to consumers—in the first month it was on the market. Meanwhile, Apple sold 1.7 million white iPhone 4s to consumers in the first three days it was on the market!

So is it essentially identical (in this part) to the Google Music service. The first time you play a song it is streamed to your device and then recently played items are cached on the device along with any songs you select to keep on the device permanently?

It looks pretty similar. The differences are that 1) iTunes in the cloud doesn't do streaming. 2) Google doesn't have a music store or agreements with the record labels, so you have to upload your files in their entirety; Apple recognizes music in its catalog and just stores a reference to it, so you don't have to upload.

I don't have an Android device, so there would be no point in requesting an invite; my assessment is based on Engadget's review. Note that Google's service is in beta, and we don't know what the pricing will be when it goes fully live.

I’m only using Samsung as an example. You can take any of the other manufacturers that are killing Apple in market share.

Really? WHat manufacturers would that be? The highest share of any Android phone maker is 12% for HTC, vs. 27% for Apple. Samsung rings in at 5%.

Considering performance, Samsung's Board of Directors might want to fire him and replace him with Steve Jobs... Looking at the results, Steve does a much better job based on the financials of the two firms:

Samsung Electronics

Revenue US$ 143.125 billion (2010)[3]
Net income US$  15.425 billion (2010)[4]
Profit             US$  12.683 billion (2010)
Total assets US$ 101.64 billion (2009)
Market Cap.         US$119.7 billion

Apple Inc.

Revenue US$ 65.23 billion (FY 2010)[2]
Net income US$ 18.39 billion (FY 2010)[2]
Profit          US$ 14.013 billion (FY 2010)[2]
Total assets US$ 75.18 billion (FY 2010)[2]
Market Cap.        US$307 billion

Jim has since asked you to stop invoking him on your Apple threads. You might want to take his suggestion to heart as well.
