What is up with the XX-1/2 post numbers?
Posted on 06/01/2011 9:18:09 PM PDT by West Texas Chuck
I can't help myself, I am a nosy person. In the last week or so I have seen two different posters with an XX-1/2 post number, a weird join date, and a FReep name that leads to some YouBoob or Wiki destination.
What the heck is up with this? Check 24-1/2.

Makes me think we are being hacked. I dunno, but that is shennanigans of some sort. I guess I'm just a suspicious person, but abnormal stuff gets my attention.

Go view the source code on the thread/post in question starting at line # 575 of the source code and you’ll find the code formatting for the insertion of a table that does the trick for you....

I suspect it works in decimal as well.

There are good sound reasons for not spending much more time with this.

If one pays attention to the details, everything should come out okay.

Even if one doesn't, and it doesn't come out okay, it'll still be fun.

I'm not looking forward to the day when someone tries this scam in scientific notation.

Not that this is really scientific.

When I get through with this sammich I’m gonna type a really pithy response to that.
Or not.
Maybe I’ll just go out to the hot tub and gaze on a dozen beautiful Hooters gals, let them feed me grapes and or beers, then come back here and taunt you a second time. English pig dog.
Or maybe I’ll just sit here, confident in the knowledge I am so much smarter and sexier than you that I don’t have to distinguish your remark by remarking about it.
Or not.

The apparent post with the 1/2 is actually part of the following post; they are one post. There are people here who can insert those "1/2" posts anywhere in a thread. For example, THIS POST #255 1/2 is actually part of Post #300.

Nothing to be sorry about. Just enjoy the thread. When the 1/2 threads first started showing up, the MODs went crazy. Even warned the FReeper not to do it any more. With all the hacking going on, Weiner comes to mind, you were naturally concerned.
Besides, few threads get over 10 posts.

I've seen a couple of the #+ 1/2 posts on threads. I thought they were kinda funny. Never really paid a lot of attention though.
Actually, I figured it was a mod or two having at a kinda off beat humor or maybe it was some kinda inside joke between some mods and freepers or something like that.
It's been a hoot reading this thread. lol Good grief! I'll admit I wish I'd thought of the 1/2 thing myself. I'm jealous. lol
FReeper BufordP: You can rightly be proud of your method on posts. It's an attention getter. That fer sure. This thread alone proves that. lol
More power to ya. Carry on. lol

BTW, Please add me to that ping list of yours.

Yep, sometimes FR gets way too serious. Buford’s 1/2 posts add some comic relief.
