Filming is underway on the long-awaited second series of BBC One’s Sherlock.
The series, which brings Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes into the present-day, will return for a further run of three stories: A Scandal In Belgravia, The Hounds Of Baskerville and The Reichenbach Fall.
The titles were revealed by co-creator Steven Moffat in a BBC statement. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman return as Sherlock and Watson respectively alongside Rupert Graves as Inspector Lestrade and Una Stubbs as landlady Mrs Hudson.
The episodes will be filmed on location in London and Cardiff.
“The hotly anticipated return of BBC One’s hit series Sherlock begins filming this week with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in fine form,” says Ben Stephenson, Controller of Drama Commissioning.
The series is up for three BAFTAs – Leading Actor, Supporting Actor and Drama Series – later this month and is also a contender for the YouTube Audience Award.
The first three shows were excellent.
Nobody will replace Jeremy Brett.

The first three were excellent indeed. Very impressive how the characters were brought into modern times.
Wonderful news! These were excellent shows and I love how they adapted everything to present day.
Sherlock is so damn unlikeable, just as he should be.
Agreed! This modern-day remake was too flashy and had a creepy homosexual undercurrent. I didn't like it.
Nope.It made fun of that undercurrent from previous series.
Jeramy Britt was outstanding and true to the original. The recent big screen attempts are pure Hollywood. If someone likes that they wouldn’t read the tales anyhow.

Uh, the Sherlock Holmes story is called A Scandal in Bohemaia, and was the first Sherlock Holmes story. (After two novels) The one with, "the woman," Irene Adler.
I’ve seen all of these. And they just put them on Netflix instant.
It is set in modern day, but it actually feels more authentic than the movie recently made with Downey.
Of course, there is nothing like the Jeremy Brett series, which is also on instant Netflix.
Those shows are excellent.
I love Nigel Bruce, but I think the stereotype it created of Watson as a bumbling fool was unfortunate. In the stories, he is intelligent, brave, and a competent doctor. And to add modern relevance, he had a wound incurred as a military doctor in Afghanistan.
Ah, but was it the shoulder or the leg?
I say both. The shoulder injury was more life-threatening, but the leg injury does bother him too.
Of course, Basil was The one and only.........
The problem with these new comers, especially in the new movies, is that the actors have no stage experience, and even Jeremy Brett, mumbled.....
Without the proper training that comes from having to speak intelligibly so you can be understood, even when speaking softly, these newer Holmes all lose the audience....
Jeremy Brett had the advantage of the real Doyle stories, which Basil never did, (except for Hound....) and in the Sherlock series, the last episode was from hunger....IMHO....
Robert Downey needs to understand that if he cannot speak and be understood, he might as well not talk at all.....no offense
