Once upon a time, I chaperoned a 7th grade trip, a weekend trip to a science center. One of the girls upon arriving home told her father she was raped on the bus. The so called rapist was sitting in the front of the bus, the girl in the back. The boy never went to the back of the bus. The bus trip was in broad daylight and there was no movie to distract the chaperones.

When taken to the hospital it was discovered that the girl was already very pregnant by another boy but made up the rape story to deflect blame for her own and that boy’s behavior.
So much for sex ed.

A false rape charge can seriously F up a guy’s whole life.

IMO, the penalty for making such a false charge, should be made quite similar to the penalties for a rape.

Deliver a long sentence. Register the person as someone who would destroy someone else for personal gain.

Set up guidelines that would prevent this type of person from being considered for certain types of employment for life.

I honestly cannot imagine someone being willing to destroy someone in this manner falsely.

Wow. Similar event happened to me on an 8th grade overnight field trip. As a chaperoen, while accompanying my youngest child upon an annual trip I previously enjoyed with my two older children.

Oddly enough, I was the only “experienced” adult on the trip. The subject female was behaving like a tramp in the back with the boys; so I sent her to the front of the bus, away from the boys. In retaliation, one week later she claims I fondled her breasts on the bus.

Fortunately, instilled from the BSA practice of two deep adult leadership education; I never placed myself with another’s child, without at least one other adult witness present. As for the young lady and her family, she finally admitted she made up the story; because she was angry with me.

Neither she, nor her parents, ever apologized for the grief brought upon my family. Classy people. NOT!
